Amazon is Developing 2 New "Bosch" Spin-offs
"Bosch" Renewed for 7th & Final Season at Amazon
by Denise Petski February 13, 2020 "Bosch" is getting an early renewal and an end date. Amazon has picked up a seventh and final season of its hit drama series starring Titus Welliver and based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling books. The renewal comes ahead of Bosch’s sixth-season premiere later in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video. “I’m proud of what we have accomplished with Bosch and look forward to completing the story in Season 7. It’s bittersweet, but all good things come to an end, and I am happy that we will be able to go out the way we want to,” said Connelly. https://deadline.com/2020/02/bosch-r...on-1202859488/ |

"Bosch" Spin-off Picked Up at IMDb TV; Titus Welliver, Mimi Rogers & Madison Lintz to Reprise Roles
by Peter White March 3, 2021 The "Bosch" universe is expanding. IMDb TV has picked up a spin-off of the long-running Amazon crime drama, with stars Titus Welliver, Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz reprising their roles from the original series. This comes as the seventh and final season of the show launches this summer on Amazon. The untitled spin-off will follow Harry Bosch, played by Welliver, as he embarks on the next chapter of his career and finds himself working with his one-time enemy and top-notch attorney Honey “Money” Chandler, played by Rogers. With a deep and complicated history between this unlikely pair, they must work together to do what they can agree on – finding justice. “To say I am ecstatic is an understatement. To be given the opportunity to tell more Harry Bosch stories is a tremendous gift,” said Titus Welliver. “The process of shooting season seven with the shadow of it being our final loomed heavily so when the idea was presented to continue with the possibility of a spinoff, without hesitation I said, ‘let’s go.’ To all of our Bosch fans, thank for your incredible support for all these years and I can promise you the ride will only get better.” https://deadline.com/2021/03/bosch-s...tz-1234705787/ |

"Bosch" Franchise Expanding with 2 New Crime Dramas in Development
by Matt Webb Mitovich February 7, 2023 Stand back, new DCU. The "Bosch" Universe is possibly expanding further. Amazon Studios has announced that it is developing two new shows inspired by the work of best-selling author Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels of course already gave us "Bosch" (which ran seven seasons on Prime Video) and then "Bosch: Legacy" (currently between Seasons 1 and 2 on Freevee). One of the series in development would be a police drama following Harry Bosch’s former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, after he gets tapped for an undercover FBI mission in Little Haiti, Miami. “In this glamorous city, J. Edgar is forced to balance his new life with the gritty underbelly of the city, while being chased by his mysterious past,” says the synopsis. The other Bosch-iverse series in the works would follow Detective Renee Ballard, a character from Connelly’s novels who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division. Beyond simply investigating unsolved crimes, Renee is dedicated to bringing credibility to the department and justice to the community. Having learned from her retired ally and mentor, Harry Bosch, Renee does things her way – solving cases in unconventional ways while navigating the politics of being a woman on the rise in the LAPD. https://tvline.com/2023/02/07/bosch-...e-jerry-edgar/ |

Second "Bosch" Spin-off, About Detective Renée Ballard, Ordered at Prime Video
by Andy Swift November 17, 2023 Prime Video has given a formal order to an untitled spin-off series focused on LAPD detective Renée Ballard, a major character in Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels, TVLine has learned. Per the official announcement, the series will follow Detective Ballard, “who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division — a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.” “From books to screen, Michael Connelly creates authentic and suspenseful stories, led by distinctive characters who make audiences care and connect,” Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals, unscripted, and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios, says in a statement. “Renée Ballard is one of those characters. She instantly captivated readers with hints of a troubled past and a protective layer of idiosyncrasies she developed to survive. We look forward to expanding the Bosch universe with Michael and introducing viewers to Ballard’s personal approach to pursuing justice.” Adds Connelly, “It is so exciting to bring Renée Ballard to the screen and to do it with Prime Video, my streaming partners for going on 10 years. This show will have the same authenticity and propulsive momentum of Bosch: Legacy. Fans of the books will love it.” https://tvline.com/news/bosch-spinof...eo-1235082484/ |
