Default TV Guide 50 worst TV shows

I saw this interesting list. What shows are missing? Take special note to #5.

If your going to knock Hogan's Heroes then why not include McHale's Navy or The Phil Silvers Show?

And why isn't there any TV shows featured from the 2000s 'til today?

I will watch trashy Jerry Springer shows anytime over The View.

Yeah, The View should definitely be on that list. Total trash.

I looked thru the list, assuming Small Wonder would be on there (I was ready to knock them if they had included it)--which it wasn't. Probably only because they never heard of it.

The notation for Hogan Heroes is for all of us who feel it's been completely over played on MeTV. As for why there are not more current shows listed is probably based on whe the article first appeared. The story I read on this could easily have been recycled from a few years ago.

Personal I like McHale’s Navy and Bilko. But I do see your point based on similarities of all 3 shows.

For me any daytime talkshow after Phil Donahue is not worth watching.

Maury's talk show is total trash (good for them putting Jerry Springer's garbage talk show at #1 and also including Howard Stern's show in the worst list). But I did like Maury Povich as host of the Twenty-One remake. Twenty-One 2.0 was not as good as Greed or Regis's Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but miles better than Deal or No Deal which has never deserved its success. My Mother the Car isn't good like other sci-fi sitcoms from the era like Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Munsters, The Addams Family, and My Favorite Martian. But even My Mother the Car was miles better than the other sci-fi sitcom that came to Antenna TV in the same year: dreadful It's About Time (great theme song though). I agree The Flying Nun was stupid. I would have rather seen four seasons of Gidget which was one and done. I also don't care for Hogan's Heroes except for the theme song. I have not seen The Phyllis Diller Show but the concept sounds really funny, is that Richard Deacon in the picture?

I am not a Hogan's Heroes fan, but my great uncle and other family members really liked it. And my next door neighbor must be a fan, I often hear the Andy Griffith and Hogan's Heroes themes from her apartment in the 8:00 and 10:00 hours if I don't have on my own TV.

That was Richard Deacon. I'm wondering if The Phyllis Diller Show is aka The Pruitts of Southampton.

I'm surprised no one else noticed the show at number 9, "The Jackie Gleason Show"! The description goes on to describe his variety/sketch show that ran on and off from the 50's-70's. There's no way TV Guide would have listed that series as one of the worse shows of all time. As it turns out, the actual list is from the July 20, 2002 edition of TV Guide, the New York Post recapped the list back in 2002, the series in the number 9 slot was the legendary one and done "You’re in the Picture", the game show Jackie hosted one week and apologized for the next. What a ridiculous error!

That would explain why there isn't any recent shows on there.

It seems to me like the only reason that a lot of these shows made the list is because they featured people that are much better known for doing other things.

The writer really showed his/her ignorance when talking about Life with Lucy.

I agree with a lot of them but I loved Unhappily Ever After and The Ropers! I'd still watch them if they were on.

The Flying Nun isn't the greatest show but I prefer it over Gidget, it's unfortunate that only seasons 1 and 2 of The Flying Nun have been released on DVD, the 3rd season hasn't been released and I'm wondering if the reason might be due to music, it seems that I recall some 3rd season episodes have music/songs performed in them, Sally Field sort of became a singing nun during that 3rd season, anyhow I'm thinking that music rights issues could be a reason why the final season hasn't been released on DVD.

My Mother The Car is an outlandish show, probably the most outlandish of the 1960's fantasy sitcoms. I was surprised a few years back when the series got a DVD release so I went ahead and bought a set. Glad that I did because I think it's out of print now and has become a rare item to find.
