Default two things bothered me

Two things that have always bugged me

Endorra hates Darrin and is very powerful witch and what does he do ?? he antagonizes her every chance he gets, how stupid can you get.
Also Darrin is very disrespectful of sam, being a witch is what she is its her heritage and hes constantly against it.

Well, I can kind of see your points, but the characters were purposely written that way so as to have tension between them (Endora and Darrin) as it made for some very funny story lines. Also, the Samantha character was written such that she WANTED to try to act as mortal as possible. She loved Darrin (a mortal) and she wanted to try and please him as her husband.

I think he and Endora have equal skin in the game--she's equally nasty to him. Also, she could be more tolerant of her daughter's choice of husband.

With regard to Darrin being disrespectful of Sam and her doing witchy things, don't forget he didn't find out she was a witch until after they were married.

I agree with Stevea. Samantha could have told Darrin before they were married but chose not to. I do think at times that Darin was more tolerant of her being a witch, but it was usually when it benefitted him in some way but not always. I always liked when Darrin and Endora worked together to help or save Samantha in some way. Also, when Tabitha was born, they had a really good scene together. DY and AM worked really well together.

What bugs me is how much drinking is done in almost every scene. I realize that it's unfair to impose today's standards on older shows but damn there's always a cocktail being poured. At lunch, before dinner, with dinner, after dinner, night caps, at work, after work, at the clubhouse and the bar.

Yep, the bar is always open. "Make it a double and wake me up in the morning." Or something like that.

It's just my take and many disagree, but I think Darrin and Endora could halfway get along if Darrin wouldn't be such an ass to her all the time... If you notice it is usually always Darrin that throws the first insult whenever Endora drops in. Endora will be in the kitchen with Samantha and Darrin comes in and see her and says something, "I just lost my appetite" or something... If he would just act normal, I don't think they would have half the issues they have

On the other hand, the fact that she'd always pop in THEIR house unannounced and uninvited would be quite annoying. Imagine coming down for breakfast and your (mortal) mother in law would just... show up, without calling first or anything. You'd feel like insulting her too!

I'm guessing that was just "witch culture". The witches seemed to operate different than mortals as far as social interaction... I got the impression the witches probably just popped in on each other all the time. I'm guessing they had ethics and rules about things like popping in on people in the bathroom or in private situations. Even when a witch would summon another witch often times they would just ZAP them there regardless of what the other witch might have been doing, this was seen a lot with Dr. Bombay who was always in the middle of something when Samantha summoned him

I think initially in the first 3 to 4 seasons they kept much of the bickering between them kind of playful with some really great dialogue. Each gave as good as they got. It wasn't really until season 5 when Darrin started to be written as hatefully angry (even to Uncle Arthur). The season opener he was really hard on Endora for no reason. I blame that on poor writing (they were running out of ideas) than Darrin naturally becoming meaner. Sargent's Darrin was even worse toward Endora.

True--Serena and Uncle Arthur did the same thing, and Aunt Clara tried to do it, too.

Maurice's entrances were always grand--thunder, lightning, explosions, etc.

I remember my Mother making this same observation back in the 80's or 90's, when I was a youngster. I suppose the cocktails mostly served as a prop to give the actors something to do along with the dialogue, rather than just standing around. There was lots of drinking!
