Default Jack Albertson On Alias Smith And Jones

We now get a westerns channel on Dish Network & it shows re-runs of the early 70's western Alias Smith And Jones. I bet some of ya'll remember that show. Last nite we were watching it & Jack Albertson was on last nites Alias Smith And Jones. He played a judge in it.

I couldn't help but noticed the similarities between Peter Duel who played Hannibal Heyes on there & Freddie. Peter Duel who played Hannibal Heyes committed suicide while the show was still on tv & they got Roger Davis to replace him on there. I didn't remember Roger Davis replacing him on there tho. I remember when Peter Duel died but after he did I sure don't remember the show being on anymore.

I looked up Alias Smith And Jones on the internet recently out of curiosity to find out more on it. I came upon some Alias Smith And Jones message boards on the internet. There were folks on there acting just like we do over CATM & Freddie. People speculating what would've happened if Peter Duel had lived, disscussions on what people were doing when they found out he had died, people writing how they would love to still have him here. I commented to Mike when I was watching Jack on Alias Smith And Jones that that was 2 shows Jack Albertson was on where the main star of the show committed suicide. I don't know that much about Peter Duel but I wonder if he was feeling the same things Freddie was? So sad for both him & Freddie...

I remember when all of that happened, it wasn't really that much earlier than Freddie..... it was so sad....

I also remember thinking when Freddie died back to Pete's death and wondered what Hollywood did to these talented young men that would get them so depressed about life that they would want to end it all.... I kinda lost faith in Hollywood at the time....

I don't remember that show. Back then, my television viewing was limited to what my dad wanted to watch, on a tiny black and white set! He must not have wanted to watch this show! LOL!
I used to think that successful actors; musicians, etc had nothing to worry about and should have no reason whatsoever to be unhappy....I learned as I got older that it just doesn't work that way!

I remember the show too. I used to watch it all the time. You're right Joy...Peter was handsome...but nothing compared to Freddie.

Hi all!
Just in case you didn't know, Alias Smith and Jones wasn't the only show Pete Duel was on. He was also on Gidget as her brother-in-law.
Looks very different with his shorter hair.....

You're right, he was on Gidget. I always liked that show. I have a vhs video of Gidget with him in it. I believe it maybe out on dvd now. I'd like to get that sometime. I think Freddie would've been great on an ep of AS&J. It coms on a Westerns channel on Dish Network...

Yes, the whole series is available on DVD. It was only one season I believe, which is a shame. It was a cute lil show for it's time. Best of luck finding it, it's been out for a lil while, but it seems to get harder to find the longer you wait.

Karen, I remember those days, that was back in the 60's for me.... My dad's two favorite shows back then were Star Trek and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I never really got into the latter, but the former I was hooked on when it went into syndication in the 70's....
I also remember that this was before remotes, WE were my dad's remote! LOL AND I remember my dad would get really mad if we asked him questions about what was going on, so if we wanted to watch with him, we had to be quiet! LOL

I bought the boxed set of the Thin Man movies for my hubby for Christmas. One of the videos has the pilot for the TV series that came after the William Powell/Myrna Loy movies staring Peter Lawford and Phillis Kirk as Nick and Nora Charles. What I didn't realize is that Jack Albertson played Lt Evans in the series..... that was cool! LOL
