True.

I'm real life that would've ended 99% of friendships but this isn't real life. Larry was too vital a character to lose so they couldn't just get rid of him or something.

And did it again in season 5 which forced Jack to run to the farm

True but I'm glad that happened because that Cindy's aunt's farm is one of the funniest episodes of the entire series with Wally chasing Jack around!

It was also the ONLY episode where a woman(Cindy's aunt) actually made out with Furley!

In sitcoms the characters rarely seem to remember things that happened in previous episodes lol

That episode proved Jack didn’t have any real friends. First of all, we never saw any other friends of Jack’s, with the exception of Janet, Chrissy, Cindy, Terri, Mr. and Mrs. Roper, and Mr. Furley, and they weren’t on the same level as Larry was. Why would he keep going back to Larry after the sick, selfish things he did?

True but Larry did not know he got her pregnant and she never was actually pregnant. Throughout the entire series, Larry always used fake jobs and fake names with girls.

Now if Larry actually got a girl pregnant and he knew he got her pregnant and purposely used Jack's name as a decoy, I would agree. But that's not what happened.

Maybe, on top of this, Jack felt that for Larry to have had to forfeit his mother's real wedding ring was punishment enough for what he had done.

Jack and Larry's friendship was one of the most underrated things about the series. Every scene they had together was always funny.

I was upset that they left Richard Kline's photo off of the DVD covers in seasons 5,7,8, and the complete series. He was one of the best and funniest actors in the cast.

So they have the Ropers on the cover of the complete series and was only on the show 3 seasons and not Larry?

I used to pay attention to the Larry character back when I was watching the episodes new in primetime, because he was Greek and so am I.

When I was young, the last name of our Greek Orthodox Church organist was Dallas, just like Larry's, so that's authentic. Lots of Greek surnames end in -as --- including mine...!

According to "Opening Night" (S07E06) it's actually Larry Dalliapoulos, but Dallas will do!

A lot of Greek-Americans with a name like that may have shortened it to Poulos...! Either end could be lopped off.

Similarly the reason so many have the Pappas surname is because the name has been shortened from Papageorgiou, Papamichael, Papachristou, etc. I know a Callas family, like comedian Charlie Callas, whose name was shortened from Kalistopedes (Greek for "good jumper" -- !! lol). Kallas also is not uncommon.

One reason the names were shortened was that many early immigrants from Greece to the U.S. did not know the written English language well, if at all, so signing their name was easier in short form. Obviously Larry's has been shortened with the back end lopped off.
