Default Did Macy's almost cancel the Thanksgiving Day Parade due to Hurricane Sandy?

I was seeing a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade from 2014 on Youtube and before the parade began Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie gave a short dedication to the people affected by Hurricane Sandy and it made me wonder if Macy's has ever cancelled their Thanksgiving Day Parade before? Because I know from history the only two times the parade was cancelled in history was in 1944-45 due to World War II and they tried to cancel it when September 11th happened. And it's amazing how even though through hard times the parade still survives after all this time. I also noticed that during the parade Matt Lauer Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker as well as the Macy's employees were wearing cross pins that were red and I want to know if that was a special symbol to honor the Hurricane Sandy project or a new thing with New York?

Some of the information you're giving doesn't make sense. Are you sure you were watching the 2014 parade, Superstorm Sandy took place at the end of October in 2012. Why would they do a dedication two years later. World War II ended in August of 45, they probably had a parade that year, Pearl Harbor was after the parade in 41, so if they stopped the parade it was probably during 42-44. I don't think there was any attempt to cancel the parade in 2001, if anything the parade would have been used to make a patriotic statement.

Oh, so the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade I was seeing yesterday was the 2012 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Thank you very much for correcting me Duster76. Because when I happened to find it on Youtube yesterday Youtube didn't have a year listed on it. But I love watching Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades year round because they are so cool to see and I never tire of watching them year round
