Default A Trip to Mexico

In episode 222, Aunt Bee wins a trip to Mexico and ends up feuding with her friends. Does anyone remember how she won that trip?
Thanks.

I might be getting this messed up with another but I think she won the trip on a contest.

She won the trip from the Tampeco Tamale contest. This is one of my favorite episodes. I'm assuming she sent in labels to win the contest. It was a trip for two, but she couldn't decide who to take so her friends Clara and Myrtle split the cost of the third fare, so they could all go.

This brings up a mistake in a later episode, where Goober had a contest, Bonus Dollars at his service station. Aunt Bee won five dollars and said it was the first time she had ever won anything. Well she won the trip in this episode, and in an earlier season she won several thousand dollars of prizes on a game show. Just one of my pet peeves!

True, the writers didn't pay much attention to what was established before, they just seem to make it up as they go along.

This was a good episode as Clara and Myrtle were featured. It's been a while since I have seen it, but I remember it being funny.

Yes. Good life lesson- When you win a free trip, don't take your friends or relatives.

Over the years, my family took trips and invited other family or close friends. And yes, everyone had a different idea of what a vacation was supposed to be: sight seeing, theme parks, going to the beach or river.

And it was realistic for everyone to return not speaking to one another.

It was a good one.

The folks if Mayberry were traveling around some in those years, Howard to the island (Bermuda, which is only about 600 miles out from the coast of North Carolina?) , the trip to California, not to mention when Opie ran away to visit Gomer, also in California.

Plus Aunt Bee learned to pilot an airplane.

🙂

Goober and Aunt Bee also visited Gomer on separate trips to the marine base in California. Also, Howard went to West Virginia by train, accompanied by Millie, Andy, and Helen.

Excellent episode, where Howard and Millie decided they might not be meant for each other.

Sam Jones (Ken Berry) sure snapped her up fast, can't really blame him.

Paying for trip to mexico for two must have cost the company something its interesting they didnt send over a reporter and photographer for some publicity photos.

With regard to trips, don't forget that three or four episode arc where the Taylors went to Hollywood, so the Taylors could see Andy portrayed in a movie. I haven't seen those in awhile but I think the guest stars were Hayden Rorke, Gavin MacLeod, and Ruta Lee. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll have to re-watch that on DVD. On local TV here the epilogue is always skipped. I guess it's the easiest edit for them.

Doesn't the epilogue show them sitting on the bench wearing or using the gifts and trinkets that were gifted by each of the ladies?
