Me too!!! And a lot of them were cautionary stories about not getting pregnant or doing drugs. So Mom watched my siblings and I with a watchful eye to see if we learned any lessons!!! LOL!! I was like yeah mom OK, but being my rebellious self, I was really like Whoa!!! This sex and drug stuff seems cool!! In these movies to really deter young girls from first time sex and unplanned pregnancy they would have put ugly boys in the movies, not cute ones like Desi Jr!!!

Maybe I'll come home in the spring with Sallie Field was really awesome. I ordered it from Amazon, should come soon!!

I was totally opposite. I was like a little adult. I took those movies seriously. The ones that affected me most were about child abductions, like "Adam" and "I Know My First Name Is Steven." I was so bad that one time my Mom dropped me off alone in front of school (she had to go to work early) and I said, "Are you sure this is safe?" The movie that scared me the most was "The Atlanta Child Murders." I remember there was a scene where the murderer cut a screen and took a girl out of her bedroom. I had a lot of sleepless nights after that.

I remember MR. & MRS. BO JO JONES (I always thought that's a strange name), it came out in 1970 (I think) when I was 13. I remember it came out just as the "wave of nostalgia" was starting. I remember it was the first time I saw anything set in the 50s and also the first time I heard of an unmarried teenager getting pregnant.
I remember when his girlfriend told him she was pregnant they were on the beach and no one was around and she just turned to him and said "I'm pregnant'" and you heard a wave crash on the shore. I remember I was expecting to hear a laugh track and thought it strange when there wasn't one!!!

I think it was one of the first TV movies.

This explains why when I saw the book in the library there was a couple lying on the beach. I haven't read the book or seen the movie yet, so I had no idea that's what was going on. thanks for the info!

Would Lucy disapprove? She once commented on Dick Cavett's longer hair, saying he looked like "The Little Dutch Boy," but she seemed to like it...!
