Default How was Williams credited in the final season?

She was there for three episodes, so was the opening different or was she credited at the end credits?

Really good question. I asked this before and I am confused. I watched in real time and when the kids march with Laverne in the beginning I swear the screen said "Laverne and Company." In syndication it appears to have changed to Laverne and Shirley. However I cant find any intro openers that show Laverne and Company.
Does anyone remember this? It would be weird to call a show Laverne and Shirley yet there is no Shirley.

She's billed at the front of episodes 1 and 2 of Season 8. Episode 3 (The Note) debuts a whole new opening featuring a bunch of grade school kids doing the Schlemihl, Schlimazel stroll. Marshall is billed solo from this episode on, Williams has no billing from there on out. They also filmed a fresh solo shot of David Lander in front of a jukebox and alternated it with a shot of McKean and Lander which became a part of the opening credits in Season 7. McKean is mainly absent from Season 8 as he was off doing This is Spinal Tap at the time.

"Laverne and Company" was what the show was billed at in syndication in some markets.

For the record, they wanted to change the title of the show to "Laverne" but Penny Marshall said no because Williams leaving was already a PR disaster and she didn't want it to look like she'd pushed her out.

There was a rumor going around that season that the show's title was going to be changed to Laverne & Friends, but that never happened.

Personally, I think the show should have been titled Laverne Without Shirley.

What openings does the DVD set have?

I haven't purchased the series so I can't comment.

I don't have the DVD set, but the original network airings retained the Laverne & Shirley title, so I imagine that's what the DVD versions have.

THANK YOU
I also remember that from the last season when it aired in real time. It was called Laverne and Company. However all the syndication seems to have washed away the opening title and replaced it with Laverne and Shirley.
Very similar to Mamas Family where the opening in the NBC years had a different house. When syndication came about and their re-aired the NBC years they changed the opening to feature the syndication house.
My memory is Williams was not credited thus calling the show "Laverne and Company"

It was never titled "Laverne & Company" during the original network airing of season 8. It retained the title of Laverne & Shirley to the very end of it's run, although Cindy Williams was not credited or seen in the opening sequence. I watched the show back then.

During the initial syndication run in 1981, the show was retitled Laverne & Shirley & Company to identify it as reruns, This is similar to Happy Days Again, which appeared in 1979 when Happy Days began its' syndication run.

After a few years, both shows reverted to their original titles in syndication.

M*A*S*H and All In The family went into syndication in the late 70s and neither show was retitled. Everyone knew that they were reruns.
