Default Is Macy's going broke and will file for bankruptcy in the coming years?

I heard from my mom that Macy's is having money troubles and might go broke and file for bankruptcy in the years ahead and I want to know if it's true? My mom and I have been Macy's fans since we first went to one in our city and we liked it a lot. And if anything happens to Macy's I can bet another store will buy them. Because when you get the general picture Macy's has always been king of department stores and I think they have begun a new image by attracting the rich crowd and they are fighting to survive with this new image

I used to work for Macy's during the holiday season. The store's been in trouble since 2008, and I'm surprised it's lasted this long. The store was so cheap when I last worked, it only had three employees in the visual display department for its flagship store, which had six floors + basement and spanned an entire NYC block. (It should've had at least six people.) It didn't even have a proper studio for that department.

It's very likely that Macy's will go bankrupt. We are Wal-Mart nation now. There's no room for department stores that used to cater to the middle class, because both the middle class is shrinking and we've become trashier and cheaper in taste, preferring cheapness over quality.

We don't support our own businesses, either. I just saw a news report praising Primark opening in the US. Primark is a junk retailer from the UK that produces stuff that falls apart within months, but our own MSM was gushing over it like it was the most amazing retailer ever.

Macy’s Closed Stores and Is Getting a New CEO — Is It Going Out of Business?

Macy’s has been closing stores and its CEO plans to retire in 2023. So, is Macy’s going out of business? Here's what we know about the company.

The person who wrote that article is a foreign national who got her degree from India and covered British topics. She doesn't know anything about Macy's or any US business, for that matter.

I didn't notice that. Recently I was reading an article and it was obvious the author's first language wasn't English. He used words like averagely that are very uncommon. And he said to run an air conditioner for 8 to 20 minutes a day. He meant run it 8 times for 20 minutes each time but he said it wrong. I don't know anything about Macy's. It's probably doing fine. The only thing I heard about them is they do want to expand their luxury items offerings to make more money.

We need to spread greater awareness about this problem. The site you posted is what's known as a content farm, and what they do is hire freelancers on the cheap from all over the world to write about US topics. Before anyone accuses me of racism because I mentioned India, many of them are from the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. It's these people who've been responsible for a lot of the revisionist history and cultural strife in this country. Maybe I will start a new thread as a PSA, so we Americans can band together against this issue and stop having these people write our news, our history and everything else.

Based on my experience working with them and what's been happening in retail over the past several years, I don't think Macy's is doing fine at all and that it's fighting for its life. Of course, anything can happen, so it's never really easy to predict the future, but it's been hanging by a thread for almost a decade. My gut feeling is that Macy's will continue collapsing inward and be limited to its flagship and a handful of stores.

Macy's is no different from so many others and lordy knows how many more due to the "reset" our world and our country is in. America as I've known you, Who Are You Now?????

OT a bit a Smash and Grab Robbery at a So Cal Nordstroms yesterday. Macy and what they are going thru are trying to avoid all the smash and grabs.....

Online shopping activity has affected store performances in many developed countries, obviously it's not strictly a U.S. problem or failing. The U.K. and Italy for example have their own websites like Amazon.co.UK and eBay.it. These all compete for the consumers' money.

Pretty much all of the big U.S. retailers have websites and offer wide selections through them. Unfortunately for those of us who enjoy shopping the brick-and-mortar stores, more and more the internet is becoming the primary if not sole option.
