Default Is bad "Law & Order" acting to blame for "L&O:LA's" woes?

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,7383745.story

As Robert Lloyd notes, a special kind of actor is needed for Dick Wolf's "L&O" shows. These actors, he says, should have "the ability to distract the viewer from the fact that, underneath its veneer of naturalism, the franchise is heavily stylized, with a tendency toward corn and cliché."

I don't know, but I have heard Richard Brooks (ADA Paul Robinette, 1990-93, from the original L&O) say that he would love to appear on the LA show because that's where he lives now. I think it would be a big boost to have a tried and true actor with roots to the genesis of the franchise (he was even in the 1988 pilot!) on board. Besides, I can totally see Paul Robinette living in LA.

The L&O franchise is tired. That's what's wrong with it. SVU still has fans because of Benson and Stabler but the others aren't worth getting to know.

In regards to TV shows that replaced departing stars with new characters, who are the best and worst replacements?

Quote:
Milena Govich is an attractive woman, but a terrible actor. When she replaced the late Dennis Farina on the flagship Law & Order series, there was definitely a noticeable drop in quality. Even the writers incorporated her inadequacy for the role into the series narrative and her departure following her first and only season was a demonstration that she probably should never have been cast.

Those 2 are too old to chase criminals. Time to retire this franchise.

Law and Order: Los Angeles did not have interesting actors. I tried the pilot and didn't return. But then og Law and Order also had mostly boring actors until Jerry Orbach came, then in season 4 was shored up more with S. Epatha Merkerson and Jill Hennessy. I do like Alana de la Garza now on FBI, she has grown as an actress since her Law and Order days.
