I think it would be in the interest of the Schulz trust to ensure that those shows are accessible to all on multiple platforms as they perpetuate the value of the Peanuts characters to new generations as well as making the nostalgic folks happy.

I don’t know how long Apple’s contract is for but I hope it’s up before the end of the decade. They had no business pulling the Peanuts specials away from broadcast television. I hope another broadcast network can pick them up once Apple’s contract ends. They were a mainstay for so many years. At least I have all the specials on DVD, except the newest ones that are unfortunately locked in to Apple TV and have not been released on home media.

Really why can't Metv do what we've long been asking for and that is put on TV classics that are not already shown to death. How about Love That Bob or December Bride or Life with Elizabeth or Hawaiian Eye or Life of Riley or blah blah blah, I could go on & on with more real TV classics that are never shown anymore. I'd love to see the entire MeTV current primetime schedule scrapped and replaced with genuine unseen TV shows like the one's I mentioned. And as far as overnight crime shows, what's wrong with putting on some starting at 10 pm, 10 pm would be a perfect time for Cannon or Kojak or Mannix, then after an episode of Odd Couple then an episode of The Saint then Hawaiian Eye or have all of them on starting at 9 pm.

Once again I have a whole slew of shows I'd like to see. I also think swapping some westerns to overnight instead of the day would be a much wiser place for them. What kid wants to watch The Rifleman 1000 times over every day. That's one western MeTV has played to death like MUSH. There are so many other great westerns that could replace Rifleman. How about Lawman for starters?

Well, anyway, there are a lot of good choices MeTV COULD make, they just refuse to and instead forevermore play the same old same old till everyone's sick of them. They need to throw out 50% or more of the shows they currently run. And by the way put My 3 Sons on in the afternoon for kids to see or at 10 am not at 5 am or whatever ungodly hour it's currently on.

Well, whaddya gonna do? I know what I've BEEN doing I stick to my reliable DVDs, always great shows I like and I watch them WHEN I like. Sure beats relying on some cable channel to show your favorites. I'd still be waiting for Car 54 or December Bride if I didn't have DVDs.

They need to move MY THREE SONS from 5:30 to 7:00 and take off one telecast of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.

That's an interesting point, Sabin addressed that in an interview that's linked somewhere on this site, he mentioned the fact that the shows you specifically mentioned were just not popular rerun shows. Obviously at this point METV would like to start gradually moving the demo numbers down a little by introducing 70's and 80's series but for the most part they don't have a lot of traction. Look at how low Antenna TV is in the rankings (84).

They should introduce more shows from the 70s and 80s, I agree, as they will have to move their demo numbers down a little bit in order to keep their audience. This, though, will need to be done gradually.

First they need to restore/remaster more seasons of My Three Sons -- the ones not released on DVD look awful. Also, IMHO the good episodes are the ABC ones -- and I wouldn't try to air the later CBS seasons in prime time (alas Andy Griffith) as they are weak by comparison.

Although the late 50s, 60's, and (non Lear) 70s shows age the most gracefully, even with younger demos, as they are more timeless in nature and less "relevant" of the period.

The black and white seasons all went out on un-remastered, unrestored DVDs a few years ago.

The color seasons that were in local TV syndication (seasons 6 thru the first half of 11) were last remastered in the 1990s. The non-syndicated last half of season 11 and season 12 were never remastered and are currently shown souerced from 16mm, pre-edited films.

It's called Memorable Entertainment Television, not The Boomer Channel... I don't get why people have to get so prickly when they introduce any shows past the 70s. The network has never been specifically themed, unlike channels like Food Network, Cartoon Network, etc. Since other channels like Antenna and Cozi took a lot of the other popular "oldies" stuff, MeTV would need to either try more modern shows, or continue to keep the channel as is with little changes. They've opted for the latter (I guess with good reason since people keep rejecting the "modern" shows).

I'm also surprised people seem okay with the cartoons. I still remember the complaints on MeTV's pages when The Flintstones first appeared. "DURR THIS IS A CHANNEL FOR ADULTS ". I saw so much of that back then, but it seems like it's stabilized, and the cartoons have become more accepted.

There's still plenty of old shows to put on the channel that other retro channels don't have the rights to.

Not gonna lie, even though "memorable entertainment" can be interpreted in numerous ways, its a boomer channel. MASH, TAGS, Carol Burnett are the most popular. Its that generation.

Yeah, I can believe it. I'm sure even 80s cartoons like He-Man would cause a stir. I keep seeing people say they want Scooby Doo on there, but would that really do well? Doesn't seem like The Jetsons did super well or there'd be more than one showing only on Sundays.

I think the programming will change over time. If METV manages to last another 30 years or so, I'd expect to see less shows from the 50s/60s and more shows from the 80s/90s. As the current demographic for the channel (Baby Boomers and GenX) die out, the channel would have little reason to keep airing those very old shows. The major shows would still air in some form (I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Leave It to Beaver), but some of the lesser shows would likely get shuffled aside (My Three Sons, Green Acres)

Correcting myself - seasons 3 thru 5 went out un-remastered a few years ago--season 1 and 2 were released on DFD around 2008 and were both remastered.
