It's the same on Tubi and the DVD but I suspect the episode could be edited, take a look at around the 7 minute mark right after the opening credits, the scene picks up and appears to already be in progress, looks suspicious to me like maybe something was edited there.

Exactly, I've looked at it a few times and it definitely appears like the beginning part of that scene is missing, as you said the audience is already laughing after the opening credits which indicates to me the episode is edited.

And of course if it mentioned before we buy it that its edited they know the DVD would not sell so thats why they keep it a secret

Here's another discovery I just made, the episode Kotter And Son is indeed edited on the DVD. It's only about a 20 second edit but it's still an edit. The full episode is on Tubi, the part that's edited out on the DVD is from the 18:20 mark to 18:40. Take a look at that part of the episode on Tubi and then on the DVD and you'll see what I mean. On Tubi the episode runs 24:35 but on the DVD it's only 24:15.

There is a small scene from the Back To School Special that's deleted on the DVD, it's the scene from the end of The Telethon episode where Mr. Woodman sings a few lines from the song My Way, then Mr. Kotter drags Mr. Woodman out of the classroom. The scene is intact on The Telethon episode itself but is cut out on the Back To School Special. Go figure that one out, makes no sense.

I don't watch the show on Antenna so can't say anything with regards to editing.
On the complete series DVD set, I can confirm three episodes that have edits, The Fight, Kotter And Son, and the Back To School Special. I'm pretty sure that The Barbarino Blues episode is also edited, can't actually say 100 percent sure but I'm like 99 percent certain that it's edited. |

The complete series DVD, season 1 disc 1, starts off with the pilot episode, followed by The Great Debate, followed by Basket Case. This is the way I prefer it actually with the pilot first.

I believe it also runs first in syndication. Common sense seems to have prevailed over that original weird decision by ABC.

I seem to remember that the network people at ABC delayed the pilot for a few weeks because there was concern the viewing audience might react negatively to the "introduction" of the Sweathogs. So two other episodes were aired instead, The Great Debate and Basket Case, before getting around to the pilot.
