Default Seeing Mike and Gloria return for Thanksgiving on ABP made no sense

Mike, Gloria, Edith, and Stephanie just didn't fit on Archie Bunker's place at all because it being more of an adult comedy about Archie's work life and friends

Seems like it would have been better for them to return for thanksgiving during season 9 of AITF.

And I was surprised CBS allowed this scene back in 1979

"Gloria kissing Mike on his bare chest in the living room"

LOL

I have never seen a intimate like that on a sitcom. Kissing on the lips YES but not on a guy's chest

I can understand your point. As a fan of "All in the Family" from the time I was a child and it was in first-run airings on CBS, I was actually pleased to see this episode as part of the "Archie Bunker's Place" series. It allowed the cast to be reunited one last time in the old setting of 704 Hauser Street.

Happy early Thanksgiving to one and all....

They just didn't fit in the ABP reality and it looked odd. Plus Gloria showed no signs of maturity and Mike was looking a real live nut

Not only that, but the beginning was shot in the old Archie's Place, before construction of the restaurant which had already been featured on many episodes leading up to this... major timeline continuity error.

I dont know what you mean by OLD ARCHIE's Place. Im looking at the AP from episode 5 and the one from ep 10 when Mike and gloria appear and dont see any difference

I agree it may not have made sense. However it gave continuity to Archie's character. Edith appeared in the beginning until she was killed off. ABP was used to spin off Gloria. It made sense to keep them mentioned or around and may have even increased ratings.

I never liked the All In The Family episode where the Bunkers fly to CA with Stephanie and stay with the Stivics as they learn of their divorce. I found that all unnecessary. They should have come to NY for Thanksgiving and we did not need the divorce drama.

Didnt they separate in the season 9 episode of AITF? So that makes me wonder why they reappeared on ABP in season 1. Did they get back to together in part 2 of Bunkers go west?
