Default Dumb buffet rules

Anyone else think it's dumb how you're not allowed to take home even a SMALL amount of food that you can't finish on your plate when you have a buffet? I can understand them not allowing you to fill a whole plate, but once we weren't even allowed to take home a piece of chicken... It's like "No you have to let us throw it away" Seems the rules could be used in reason

I think that rule is in place so people don't take advantage of all you can eat buffet eateries by loading too much on their plates. Once in a while I eat at cafeteria at our school and they have the same rules. You can eat all you want, but not allowed to take any food home. If you ask, they politely say they don't have any to go plates

Most of the popular buffets near me were done for after the pandemic hit. They all closed and became other businesses.

Closest thing now are the All You Can Eat places where they serve you the food and I believe they do allow you to bring food home.

A radio report during Covid said something like, " All You Can Eat Buffets are predicted to go away for good because of Covid." Makes sense. I can't see people being okay with All You Can Eat Buffets like we were in say 2019. Lots of food just kind of sitting in the open, a bunch of random hands touching the utensils you are using to get your food(Tong, spatula, label, etc) people crowded while they choose their food? YUCK.

A guy said something like,"I walked out after breakfast holding a banana from my All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet, and Security damn near tackled me and told me off!" Oh my God!

I once lived near a buffet restaurant with a backdoor. People would literally come in the backdoor and grab food and run out. The place closed eventually. LOL

There's a "Golden Corral Buffet and Grill" in my area. They have around 396 U.S. locations. But a local "Old Country Buffet" closed around the time of the pandemic -- it had been in business for 3 decades.
