PROGRAMMING ALERT: Lil Miss case on ID's Forensic Files 2 on Sunday, July 16 (2023)!

Just a heads-up that the 1988 murder of Lisa Marie Kimmell will be documented on an upcoming new episode of Forensic Files 2. The episode, titled "Lil Miss Murder", with air on Investigation Discovery this coming Sunday (July 16) at 8:00 PM (EST).

As you will recall, UM did a segment on the case in March 1989. Lisa Marie Kimmell was murdered while en route to her hometown of Billings, Montana in 1988. She went missing for over a week until her body was found in a Wyoming river. Her murder went unsolved for over a decade until her killer was identified as Dale Wayne Eaton. Lisa's car license plate number read "Lil Miss"; hence the aforementioned FF2 episode title.

I'm def tuning in to watch this one. I know Lisa's mom has posted on here, I think in the Amy Wroe Bechtel thread, which that is another case that I am really passionate about regarding DWE being a possible suspect. thanks for posting!

I did watch it Sunday night. Here are some of my thoughts

First I am always intrigued to see extra details and compare them from that in which we based our opinions and interpretations from the UM segment. This is a case that we knew a lot about after the fact, yet I never knew of the sheriff’s actions. He attempted suicide and apparently obstructed the investigation. It just goes to show some of the corrupt human behavior that can negatively impact these cases. But also shows the stress that investigators experience as well.

IIRC they did bring up all of the eye witness tips and how it bogged down the investigation. It kind of brings to light again that UM at times made a case look more mysterious than it actually was.

I was also sad to see it all over again. It’s so frustrating to see a young life taken away like that. And very angry that Eaton got away with so much for so long. Frustrating to know that there could be more unsolved cases. I noticed that there was an Amy Bechtel reference. I really wish the investigators in her case went after Eaton instead of lying, using smear tactics, and falsely accusing her husband.

Agree, I thought was interesting but found myself wishing it had been longer. I was surprised they essentially brushed off theories of how Kimmell and Eaton met up in the first place. UM ignored that part of the case altogether, obviously not knowing of Eaton at the time, and they didn't mention the family ski trip either.
Maybe the sheriff got too emotionally wrapped up in the case for his own good. At the very least, he came off as territorial and/or power hungry, wanting to make sure everything was done his way. Reminded me somewhat of Sheriff Radcliff with the Circleville letters in that regard.
I also was surprised Ed Jaroch was mentioned only once, and in passing at that. Maybe he declined to participate or wasn't asked.

It was an O.K. episode but didn't reveal any details that we didn't already know.

If you want to get a better sense of this saga, watch 'On the Case with Paula Zahn,' season 5, episode 4 titled, "No One to Trust." It aired in 2011 and is a full hour episode. It features interviews with Lisa's entire family, including her two sisters, the emotional toll it took on the family, much more of their problems with the sheriff, and emotionally preparing for the trial. They even go to the rest stop investigators believe Easton abducted Lisa from.

To me, the most unsettling image was the picture of the inside of Easton's van, where Lisa was tied up for six days. The mere thought of everything she went through is just terrifying.

After seeing the Forensic Files episode, I continue to have so much sadness for Lisa's mother. Looking now at interviews with Shelia Kimmel from 1989, 2011 and now 2023, the pain on her face and in her voice is no different. Having Eaton captured is a tremendous weight off their shoulders and thank goodness for that. But there is no closure. Family and friends must go on with this torture and it does not get easier with the passage of time.

I also noticed the pain in her moms face as well. I’m glad that Eaton was captured and was happy to see that they burned Dales trailer to the ground.

Did anyone else notice the clip of the sheriff’s UM interview?

I think the episode did a great job of highlighting the absolute desolation of the area in which the abduction and murder took place. I can’t even imagine being an 18 y/o female and undertaking such a long, lonely trip—especially in the pre-cellphone era.

Good call! Circleville is only 25 miles south of me, so that's why it came to mind quickly.
And yes sharonite, it was a brief clip but noticeable. I have since deleted the show off my DVR, but I swear the graphic was from the Farina years.
