Hello! I'm 42 years old.

I have mixed feelings about the Chief slapping. I can see not wanting to be slapped but he was disciplining! It was a different time.

I liked the Chief though, I think he was a no nonsense type of guy. I think he also would stick up for people!

I think there won't ever be a show just like Gimme A Break! ever again. I believe it's unrepeatable!

It was definitely a different era. My Dad used to spank my sister and I when we were growing up but we never got slapped. I think we grew up to be better people with a little discipline in the house. We never got grounded but alot of our friends used to get disciplined that way. Spanking was just a more accepted form of punishment back in those days but slapping your child is too much.

Now that I think about it, for whatever reason you would see people get slapped on television alot back in those days especially on soaps.

FWIW the girls were too old for spankings on this show especially Katie and Julie.
