The late Richard Hatch replaced Michael Douglas for what proved to be the final season of The Streets of San Francisco (S 5 - 1976-77), as Inspector Dan Robbins. I am really enjoying watching his episodes on DVD!
My favorite Season 5 episode so far is "Who Killed Helen French?", Feb. 1977 (S 5 ep. 14), guest starring lovely Marlyn Mason. From IMDb - spoiler alert though: "An abused wife [we find later it's Mason as Helen] vanishes after a vicious attack by her drunken husband and all clues point to murder with the husband as the prime suspect, but he can't remember if he did it or not." They really put the husband through hell, since blood is found. Unbelievable scene: Insp. Robbins [Hatch] goes to see Helen on what appears to be a booty-call!! SO FUN! Robbins wears a 3-pc suit with white shirt & necktie, which Helen offers to loosen. He has a valid reason for being there as the plot unfolds. Just great to see Mason and Hatch together as she begins to seduce him. Unforgettable, I've already replayed it several times. Sadly Richard Hatch is no longer with us, may he rest in peace. |
