Default My Three Sons' Douglas Family: A Peek into the Future...!

We now take a look into the future activities and updated appearances of the Douglas Family members.

Part 1: Steve, Barbara, Polly, and Ernie.

In the internet age, Steve now does much of his work at home. Here
we see the color monitor for his desktop computer:

Barbara is now a high school Principal. She recently adopted a very
lovely shorter hairstyle that goes well with her professional attire:

Polly has become involved with Keith Partridge. Only time will tell if
her dalliance will pose a threat to her marriage to Chip:

Here we see Ernie at his law office, now married and a successful
attorney. His wife is unsure about the mustache he's trying out:

Hahaha, pretty good. Yeah, even though I never did like Keith Partridge, I can see that Polly may well be infaturated with him and his long hair. But Chip will be the better long term mate.

Part 2: Katie, Chip, Mike, and Sally.

With Robbie refusing to return from South America, Katie had
no choice but to divorce him. Her new boyfriend loves the
triplets and also favors this lovely new look for Katie:

Chip has decided to try his hand at acting, appearing in the lead
role in a community play based on the life of Spanish conquistador
Francisco Pizarro. Polly likes the hirsute adornment Chip adopted
for the role, so he's keeping the new whiskers:

Mike and Sally are enjoying the free-spirited community they've
settled into, and their totally new looks are complemented with
boho and chic trendsetting attire:

Steve could engineer a rocket that could fly to the moon, but couldn't figure out how to turn the computer on, so he was forced into early retirement.

Later on, Steve completed his novel, "My Three Or More Sons".

After the divorce, Robbie faked his death to skip paying alimony, let his hair grow out and took on a new identity. Some people believed he is living with a cafe waitress and working partime as a backup drummer for Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. To this day he has had nothing to do with Katie or triplets and looks back with regret for marrying while still in college.

Or, Robbie faked his death to skip paying alimony joined a traveling theater company, dyed his hair blond and became a successful male ballet dancer.

Yes, Steve can elude mobsters at a New York party, and manage to crouch down in a bathtub wiht a drawn shower curtain to avoid being shot, but he can't change a lightbulb in his work lamp without dropping it on the floor. Or can't bring in a bag of groceries without getting his tie stuck in the car door.

He also struggled with passing his drivers test, so struggling with powering on a computer, is not to far out of the show's reality.

Upon hearing of Polly's dalliance with Keith, Chip's reaction? "Man Polly". While Mrs. Ernie is still pondering Ernie's mustache she definitely favors Ernie's helmet head full on wig. She is overheard to say, "It looks so natural." Ernie's reaction to his wife's desires to run her fingers thru his full head wig? "Cool It, Gertrude".

By the way, Mike finally got sick of Sally's bossiness and ran off with Jeanie. Jeanie regrets temporarily adopting her identity as Margie and embraces who she really is, Jeanie now with her true love Mike. They remain in an undisclosed location, however as Sally is still on the trail for her alimony payments.

So what does the future hold for Dodie, Charlie and Bub? Since the show never mentioned Bub passing away, I figure he went on to become the world's oldest man.

Default Ain't Life Grand

Dodie in her search for her family roots located Bub still living in Ireland with his Aunt, both now way way over 100, but that's fine, in sitcom world nobody ever dies, they don't even fade away. Dodie has begun to regret her going to Ireland as she has now become the full time servant to her highly demanding great great Aunt and her great grandfather. She has however gotten used to being locked in her room by her great great Aunt when she forgets to serve the tea with Splenda.

Charlie is still living happily with Steve and Bahbruh (as Charlie calls her) and is once in a while called upon to help Steve reboot his computer. Charlie yells back, "I'm having enough trouble with these biscuits I'm burning. Call one of Katie's brats they know a little more about those confangled things than I do." Steve replies, "Trouble is I can't understand a word they say. They never did figure out how to talk. Maybe Katie can interpret."

Lol!

One day while Steve is watching television, a news headline appears about a large meteor that will make impact with earth. Before Steve can fully react to the situation, he gets a call on his flip phone from Clint Eastwood. Clint inform him that he is putting together a space shuttle team of former 60's tv stars to meet the meteor head on. After being reassured that Dr. NImoy will be in charge of operating the computer as acting chief science officer, Steve then reluctantly agrees to go on this dangerous mission.

Steve makes a long distance call to his cousin Fergus, who has been searaching all this time for the missing Dodie. Steve asks him to put a temporary halt to the search and get on the next available flight to America and take care of Barbara and his family until he makes it back. Steve blows the dust off his trusty sliderule, kisses Barbara on the forehead and embarks on his journey into space.

Bub, 175, is still in Ireland with Aunt Kate, who is now 201. Chip and Polly went over to visit, because he wanted Bub to give him another surfboard. Sudsy, who like Chip is now 77, went along because he longed to hear Bub sing "Carolina In The Morning" again. He was disappointed because Bub said he lost the rights to sing it. Times had gotten so bad that not only can't you sing songs on DVD sets, technology had become so advanced that mikes can now even pick it up when you sing in the huts of Ireland. So you have to make sure to sing public domain songs, but "Carolina" had its copyright renewed for the 50th time.
