Question Why did Faith Hill walk away from such a successful career?

She was arguably, the queen of country from 1998-2003. And yet, she hasn’t released an album since 2005, and seems to be mostly forgotten by today’s generation. Did Carrie Underwood perfect her formula and usurp her?

When Faith Hill made her debut in 1993 with her first album Take Me As I Am country music had started to see a new generation of female country singers and when the 90's had begun female country singers such as Pam Tillis Lorrie Morgan Reba McEntire Kathy Mattea and others were already making their marks. But when Faith Hill debuted with her first single Wild One people knew this was the singer that would make it huge and also with the debut of Shania Twain with her self-titled album also in 1993 Faith had strong competition in country music. While Faith Hill's debut album Take Me As I Am showed promise it made her a huge star and she even made a star out of NFL quarterback Troy Aikman by debuting him in the Wild One video and because of that Troy became Faith's first crush. While she was also known for her cover of Janis Joplin's Piece Of My Heart it was the title track Take Me As I Am that became a hit. Faith tried to repeat her success with her second album It Matters To Me in 1994 but although it was a good album it still sold copies and became a hit. But it was actually her 1999 album Faith that got Faith Hill more exposure this time to the pop market and with hits like This Kiss the album showed that Faith really lived up to her name. And she repeated the same thing with Breathe. But just as we saw Leann Rimes experiment with pop with her album Twisted Angel Faith Hill did the same thing with Cry and I think with Cry she was trying to become a rock artist like Tina Turner and Avril Lavigne but if you listen to the song One from the Cry album she tried to become an R&B singer too and I cannot figure out why Faith Hill did this with the Cry album. But when Fireflies debuted Faith found herself back in country again and proved herself worthy once again. Faith Hill is focusing on other things but she still is releasing albums but even with new singers debuting themselves on country music's new artists to watch Faith Hill still is the queen of country music

Faith Hill stepped away from her career to focus on raising her 3 daughters with her husband Tim McGraw. But I think another part of it was Faith Hill would sometimes get criticized in the media for some of the things she said or did, and I think she got tired of dealing with that and needed a break from it. Tim McGraw's singing career has stayed successful so I'm sure their family isn't hurting for money at all. I think someday she'll return to singing full time.

She didn't walk away from the spotlight completely considering her decision to star alongside Tim in that new show named 1883.

God bless you and them and their three girls always!!!

I like Faith Hill, but calling her the Queen of country music might be a stretch.

Well I don't like her later stuff (too pop sounding) but her earlier songs are really good. But I agree with what you say about calling Faith Hill the Queen of Country music.
