Default It’s a good thing this show ended after Season 6 because that’s when it went downhill

Good lord, is this season a roller coaster to get through. LOL. Everyone is so lifeless, it makes me wanna go into the TV and puts my hands on them. Mama morphs into Vicki Lawrence in a wig, Vinton’s stupidity comes off as over-the-top and ridiculous, Naomi serves no purpose but to be a pregnant couch potato who whines all the time except for when she wants Vint to punch her box, Iola has no personality, and Bubba’s is even more non existent.

Thank GOD this show wasn’t renewed for a 7th season.

Vicki knew it had run its course and made the right decision. The show was still high in the ratings too.

To me there were two standout episodes in that season: "Mama's Medicine Show" and "Look Who's Breathing." There were a few duds, and the rest were meh.

The last few episodes with the RV and so many supposed outdoor scenes, the scenery looked about as fake as you can get. This is why the videotaped shows like MF should stick to interior scenes as much as possible.

I think it COULD have run one more season... It would have been good to have had a season with Vint's and Naomi's baby. I think Vicky said if the show had continued, Tiffany's name would have been a running point of contention between Thelma and Naomi.

I know someone wrote a season 7 fanfic season, on an old M.F. message board a long time ago, and it was pretty good, it have closure to many of the characters. Including a family reunion episode with a visit from Buzz and Sonya, giving an update on their life.. ~Buzz had come out as gay and brought his partner~ A return from Ed, Eunice AND Billy Joel, Bubba's younger brother, Mickey Hart also tagged along with the Higgins family.... So yeah the writer included all the characters I think

Had there been a 7th season the ultimate thing would have been to snag Carol for an appearance or maybe more.

If the show had been renewed for Season 7, Vint and Naomi probably would have moved out of Mama’s house and stayed on as recurring characters. Betty White might have started appearing as Ellen again, and since Bubba was getting older, I could see the writers creating a character that’s this bratty teenager type for Mama to adopt.

I would have hoped so but it's hard to say, I think Carol and Vicky reunited around 1991, but who knows if it had to do with Mama's Family ending? Had the show continued, I dunno if they would have still not been on speaking terms.

But as I've mentioned on here before, I have seen pics and clips of Vicky, Carol and Harvey portraying Mama, Eunice and Ed, and they all look much older, Eunice is wearing glasses, and sitting next to a typewriter in one pic, Mama looks just like she does in the syndicated era of Mama's Family, and Ed looks much older... and they appear to be in a "modified version" of Eunice's house.... I would guess it was sometime in the mid 90s, but I have NO CLUE where it was from, unless Carol did a special Family sketch on her new show in the 90s Carol and Co.

When I was young my older cousin told me she saw a skit where Mama visited Ed and Eunice in Florida, so it makes me wonder if Carol did a Family Sketch on her 90's show that followed the Mama's Family story line of Ed and Eunice in Florida, or my cousin was mistaken pulling my leg or what lol BUT it makes me wonder

Yes I think it would have been good to get closure on the characters; Vint and Naomi finally move out, maybe we get to hear what's happened to Ellen ~as she is supposedly still around Raytown~ Maybe an update on Buzz, Sonya, Eunice and Ed, etc...

maybe in an extra season, they could have officially killed off aunt Effie, and have an over the top funeral, Harper style...

I could see an episode where Iola's parents pass away, and Iola is now facing a world of "what-to-do"

Betty White still had two more seasons of the Golden Girls to do even when the show went off the air. Doubtful she could return as Ellen, even if the show went in another season.

Betty White did the episode “Best Medicine” while she was on The Golden Girls, and she said in the past that she was willing to appear in more episodes whenever she was available but was never asked.

If I were to write a seventh season, I'd have Iola's parents die, then have her meet up with Sven from the Hawaiian arc, marry him, and leave the see the world. She deserves that!
