I have gone through five seasons and here are a couple of questions:
1) Why does it seem that so many episodes seem to end without a final resolution or as if it should continue? So many times I have asked myself, "That's where the episode ends?!"
2) How is it possible that a legitimate PI lives in a trailer without any proper protection of his residence, locks, alarms, etc. ?? How many times have criminals broken into the trailer and messed it up looking for something or for Jim? Didn't he (i.e. the writers) get the message that he needs more protection for himself and his car?! I have asked the very same question about Barnaby Jones, Frank Cannon and others.
3) Whenever Jim B-S's with a false identity, how is it the person hearing him doesn't say, "one minute, let me call your company and confirm you work for them?!"
4) Why didn't we get more of a backstory on his background like we did in Magnum PI?

I always wondered why a PI of his caliber lived in such a rummy place.

Lou Grant episodes were like that, too.
No real resolution.
