Default Miss Jane could have gotten ANYTHING she wanted from Mr. Drysdale

As nasty as Mr Drysdale was to Miss Jane, realistically she could have blackmailed the heck out of them and gotten ANYTHING.... All she'd have to do is threaten to tell Jed and family what a horrible person he was, tape record the things he says and play it for Jed, etc..... it's not like she'd even have to make stuff up, but she could even go that route... he would have totally crumbled and agreed to any amount of money she demanded, vacation, days off, or whatever

The thing with Miss Jane as far as I was concerned was this, why did she set her cap on Jethro instead of Jed. Jethro was supposed to be a kid (around 18 I guess), well out of her reach, but Jed on the other hand was at least a plausible goal.

If you watch the series all the way to the end the show changes from the Beverly Hillbillies to Hathaway's Hillbillies over the course of the last half season as Miss Jane becomes a major character, as important to the show as any of the hillbillies.

I just realized that these days, Miss Jane would be labeled a pedophile for chasing after Jethro like she did.

I'm pretty sure Jethro was at least 18.... But I always saw both Jethro and Elly as being in AT LEAST their mid 20s, even though I guess they were playing younger.... Elly was beautiful but she was showing her age a bit in the final season as she was pushing 40 I think

I always assumed Jethro and Elly were in their mid 20s when I was younger, I was surprised when I heard someone refer to them as TEENAGERS in one episode.

By the last season Elly/Donna Douglass would have been pushing 40, so at that point, Granny's assessment of her being an "old maid" was practically realistic and not comical anymore lol

Yes, I meant the ages of the characters on the show, although I don't think any ages were specifically given on the show?

In the episode where Jethro see the psychiatrist, the psychiatrist remarks, "Jethro is the most uncomplicated teenager I've ever seen!" I just remember being shocked that Jethro was supposedly a teenager lol

Drysdale would probably find some way to return the blackmail.

Edith Bunker was only 42 when the series began, I didn't know that. The funny thing in real life she was 48 looked a little older and was more than a year and a half older than Carroll O'Connor.

Well, if Edith turned 50 in the season 8 episode when she got attacked on her b-day, that would have put her at around 42 when the show started... Archie was like 5 years older than Edith, I BELIEVE he was mentioned as being 55 in a season 8 episode, so he would have been around 47 at the beginning. But when I was younger watching the show, Archie and Edith reminded me of my grandparents and I always see them as "grandparently" for some reason.... Not like as a super elderly couple but more like younger senior citizens

Definitely seemed that Archie and Edith were older than in their forties.
