DirecTV to Air Short Lived Dramas - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

DirecTV has dug up three more short-lived series to run on its 101 Network, bringing back episodes of mid-2000s dramas "Smith," "The Nine" and "Eyes."
Deal was made with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution to bring back all three shows, which were canceled with additional episodes in the can. That means the DirecTV/101 run will include segs that have never been seen on TV.

Decision to bring back "Smith," "The Nine" and "Eyes" is similar to its run this year of the short-lived Imagine TV drama "Wonderland."

In a more extensive deal, DirecTV and the 101 also picked up original episodes of "Friday Night Lights" this season. Talks are ongoing with Universal Media Studios and Imagine TV to bring the show back for another round; among the possibilities are a two-season order of 13 episodes apiece.

As for this deal, "Smith" will air first, starting Wednesday, April 8 at 10 p.m. Drama, which originally aired in 2006 on CBS, comes with seven episodes -- four of which were never broadcast.

After that, "The Nine" will air in the same slot starting May 27. The 101 will feature all 13 episodes -- including four that never aired during the show's 2006 ABC run.

"Eyes" will air as a lead-in to "The Nine" on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. beginning in July. Originally broadcast on ABC in 2005, "Eyes" comes with 12 episodes -- seven of which were never telecast.

All three shows, produced by Warner Bros. TV, will air in high definition and without commercials.

"Smith" starred Ray Liotta, Virginia Madsen, Simon Baker, Jonny Lee Miller, Amy Smart and Shohreh Aghdashloo, and came from John Wells, Brooke Kennedy, Christopher Chulack and R. Scott Gemmill.

Hank Steinberg and K.J. Steinberg were behind "The Nine," which starred Tim Daly, Scott Wolf, Chi McBride and Kim Raver among others. Alex Graves also exec produced.

"Eyes," from John McNamara, starred Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, A.J. Langer, Laura Leighton and Eric Mabius.

I would like to see The Nine again. I didn't see all the episodes that aired. It sucks that it was canceled.
