I read where he possibly had a concussion but didn't get medical help. Wrong!

They would have to show to be a hazard on the road. I don't think you can take someone's license for no other reason other than because "they are just really really old" Who gets to decide what the age is? And what about those at that age who are fine drivers? Do they just have to give up driving? |

I knew of a man who used to drive cross-country from like Main to California once every year, just to prove to himself he could still do it, and he did this tradition well into his 90s.... Until he no longer felt safe doing it due to his eyesight |

As much as I love Dick Van Dyke , he's always been a cool guy and he's a cool old man, aged well.
But I agree, I really think he is too old to still be driving ! With his kind of money, he certainly could get a good, reliable chauffer to take him around !

I can remember my grandmother drove to church on Sunday morning and to our house for dinner on Sunday evening. That was about it. |

Reading a little more on the many articles on this Van Dyke auto accident and know that I'm not bad mouthing Van Dyke but I probably would not get in a auto driven by a late 80's yrs of age person...
Wondering why his wife who is half his age was not driving him to a dental appt? Maybe she was just too busy. The auto involved was a brand new Jaguar and I read that Dick said "he could never understand that damn car".... I was thinking it was an EV since there are videos of the car on fire. Wonder if there are Jaq EV's??? Just a few more tidbits, if they are true, who knows only the main person. |

You have his recent accident confused with an accident he had 10 years earlier. The accident you're referring to occurred in 2013, he was driving a Jaguar that caught fire, according to reports at the time he was unaware of the fact that the car was on fire! He was pulled from the vehicle by motorist who stopped to help. At that point he was 87 and should have stopped driving right then and there. With regards to the accident that just occurred, he was driving a Lexus, the car skidded in the rain and he crashed into a gate. His wife is 51, married him 10 years ago, and let's face it probably figured she'd be a widow at this point. I think she has been shamed to the point where she has finally taken his car keys away. |

Once again, EV cars are under attack unfairly. The car that caught fire in 2013 was not EV. Such outright hatred of electric vehicles.

Dick should have borrowed his brother's mother.
