At least with The Odd Couple, a Paramount+ subscription has the series. So if Weigel couldn't secure it for streaming, Paramount's own subscription service has it with a commercial free option.

With Laverne and Shirley, it appears the only streaming venue is the Pluto channel, also owned by Paramount, but the ad streaming service.

I don't see it on Logo's schedule but I think it last was there.

On Pluto TV, one has to endure a lot of commercial breaks and no playback control, episode selection demand, etc.

Laverne & Shirley has much more name recognition today and cultural popularity than Love, American Style and a number of shows on the Catchy Comedy schedule.

I haven't really watched much of Catchy Comedy yet. I did see some of I Love Lucy this morning. My guide still shows Decades, (Gracenote-Neilson does the data for a lot of TV vendors, and it often takes them a few days to update data.) Some comments and questions. Feel free to add your own observations:

1.) The episodes look very clean, or as sharp as can be expected for some of their ages. I think in a lot of instances they are using DVD transfers, with slight edits.

2.) Weigal Broadcasting is the same company that does the content for METV so we will probably get the same prints that are shown on METV.

3.) Considering the political and sensitive content of some shows, how badly will All in the Family and Sanford and Son be edited? It is surprising that these are on the schedule considering the times. Even though these are classics.

4.) The only show that I don't like on the schedule is "The Love Boat." Never watched it, we don't need a big soap opera.

5.) I don't know how much variety they will be able to put into the "Binges." I would rather see the weekends devoted to overnight classics like Mister Ed, Car 54 Where Are You?

6.) The name could be better. Don't promote the station being exclusive to women's comedy. There are shows on there for men too, call the station "Classic Comedy."

If I was in charge of renaming the channel I would've used HA!
which was used very briefly in the early 90's for a similar network. Its simple and to the point!

It looks like a good channel so far. I’ve checked in on it and seen bits and pieces mostly. I watched an episode of Good Times this afternoon and it was good. I’ve noticed shows that are exclusive to the streaming schedule will not show the logo bug or the content rating.

As far as the Norman Lear shows go, they don’t have any disclaimers. Good Times and Sanford and Son have a plain TV-PG rating and All in the Family has a TV-PG-DL rating just like it does on MeTV.

Gilligan’s Island sounds like a good one.

Actually now that I think of it, when they did the Laverne and Shirley binge in early February right after Cindy Williams passed, I noticed a lot of the episodes did not have the logo bug or the content rating. That means it’s possible the streaming version showed different episodes than the over the air one.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't know who, if anyone, currently owns the rights to the HA! name/trademark, but it would be great if Weigel could get the rights from Paramount Global, or whoever owns the HA! trademark. I'm with you all the way.

Paramount (Viacom at the time) abandoned the trademark for "HA! The TV Comedy Network" on February 12, 1991, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Nobody currently owns the rights to the "HA!" name in this regard.

So no more Twilight Zone New Year's Marathons. Maybe MeTV will do them now.

"Catch Comedy" might be the most awful network name in TV history.

They are just recycling the same old shows shown for free on every other network on the Roku.

The runtimes I’ve clocked on Good Times, All in the Family and Night Court are an even 22 minutes without commercials. What is the runtime for All in the Family on METV? When Cheers was on Decades, they ran 23 minutes without commercials. Im wondering if Catchy is going to edit an extra minute now.

I believe that All in the Family is around 25 minutes uncut. I DVR'ed "Archie Gives Blood." and it showed the rare tag sequence before the credits! You have a total of about three minutes missing, but the edits seem to be skillfully done. Not like most syndicates that butcher whole scenes.

What I like about Catchy Comedy and METV are no credit crunches! I think they are doing their best to preserve the content with as few edits as possible, considering the time limits that they have to work with for modern commercial TV today.
