Barney Miller is an American sitcom television series set in a New York City Police Department police station on East 6th St in Greenwich Village

I never really watched this show until now BUT !

The Writing is Top Notch
The Plots are very unique
The Risky Themes are way ahead of the times
The Joke Set Ups Really make me Laugh Out Loud
All the Detective Characters are so Diverse & Likable
The ONE TIME Arrested Characters are amazingly entertaining
Many arrested became somewhat famous in later years

Amazing that 90% of the show is JUST Filmed in the Precinct
Kinda like a Stage Play
And there are episodes that are not so Politically Correct (thank goodness) just like real life
And there are episodes what really tug the heart strings as well

Dietrich the Boy Genius
Harris the Cool Dude
Wojo the Jock Type
Levitt the WannaBe
Barney as Captain Just Works Like a Charm

How realistic was Barney Miller?

LOL For me this is the Best Sitcom currently on tv and each episode is New To Me !

I've seen them many times, and it just gets better and better. I like about 90% of the episodes, which is especially unusual considering it changed a lot, lasted a long time, and had the occasional downer episode. The show proves you don't need gimmicks - just writing and acting.

Right? I had just started at the beginning of Covid. Great show!

It was/is a great show. It got much better IMO starting around season 3 once the main cast was established and their characters were fine-tuned.
