What was wrong with this kid? He can't dance, can't talk to girls without wearing a mask, and other strange things.

Why was his character written this way?

I thought the Bud character good enough. The only thing I didn't like or find at all funny were his attempts at all the physical humor, falling for no reason, tripping etc. doing it all the time and the way he did it just wasn't funny. Annoying yes, funny no. I think it must have been thought to be a laugh riot but not to anyone watching.

Seems to definitely be a hold over from the radio version, where I've read Bud acts even more stupidly.
