His character was one of several attempts the beloved medical drama made to fill the “bad boy” role that’d been recently vacated by George Clooney, but his character was never fleshed out enough for viewers to latch onto him. Because Malucci lacked the compassion and the humility that made Dr. Ross a fan favorite, he just came off as smug.
