Default Is Aspirin the Target of a Discrediting Campaign

Let's face it, aspirin has been around forever, and over decades more and higher priced stuff that does the same things, has been pushed on the People.... I've lately been using White Willow Bark which is a lighter type aspirin.....not as strong but helps me.

Thinking back to my growing up there was Aspirin, Anacin, Bufferin, Excedrin and then the big boys and girls hit the market....Aleve, Advil etc...

I'd love to take NO Drugs but I live with chronic arthritic pain which started when I was 18, so lots of years.

I can't take aspirin, it makes me feel funny. Lightheaded and sometimes I get heart palpitations.

My maternal grandmother in Greece had very severe arthritis and my parents used to send her bottles of Ascriptin A/D, which I see has been discontinued:

"This product is a combination of aspirin and an antacid... The antacid helps reduce heartburn and upset stomach that aspirin may cause. Aspirin is used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain from conditions such as muscle aches, toothaches, common cold, and headaches. It may also be used to reduce pain and swelling in conditions such as arthritis."

Apparently it was the same as Bufferin.

A friend believes she ended up with afib while taking 800mg of Advil, under an MD's guidance, yep under a doc....s he now takes some heart meds and no pain stuff for the artrhritis she deals with. And her taste for docs is more sour than ever...I can relate to that....

800mg is a high dose and she may have been taking that amount 2 times a day. and for how long I don't recall, but she was being guided by an MD!!!!!!!!!

It really gripes me that so many good old and tried and trusted meds have been thrown under the bus for the new and more expensive class of drugs...it has been going on for decades....I just bought a bottle of Bufferin on ebay....

Thanks for mentioning this Biff about your grandmother, is she still living, so many deal with arthritis, just talking to a male cousin the other day and he's done 2 hip replacements and deals with bodywide OA.....I don't know if he wants to look at the old Bufferin but I may ask him.

Then as one MD here who is against elective joint replacements, says as soon as the body is CUT, arthritis sets in....he works with PRP and Prolo Injections to save people from surgery...It works as I've had some but can't afford it now...

I just called my cousin in PGH area and sure enough he takes all the damaging drugs the doc pushes on him,,,,and steroids, which are the absolute WORST, I really was screaming at him and maybe I did some good, told him to look up all the side effects of the drugs he's taking.....He thanked me for bringing all this up,

In used to sort of enjoy those classic Anacin, Excedrin, Bufferin etc commercials. The exaggerated symptoms and crude graphics to simulate nervous tension. And the looks on peoples faces....pure gold.

I found when I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee, the prescription vicodin pain medication was totally worthless. But 4 200 mg Ibuprofen, twice per day...was effective.

After the healing process, I only used Ibuprofen...occasionally when knee pain flares up. But I over did it, and now anytime I take Ibuprofen, I get hives.

LOL, I recall one time I took Ibuprofen and some anti-histamine together in the same day, and got hives so bad that I looked like lizard man with scales.

Ibuprofen was also the only effective pain relief I found for tooth pain, when waiting for a dentist appointment.

Now, I do take the low dose aspirin for preventive heart reasons, and I think the main benefit there is the anti-inflammatory properties, keeping my heart passages "open"

I probably should go in and get the balloons, but even the co-pays would likely be economic misery beyond what I'd prefer to suffer.
aka keep me alive just so my payments keep rolling in....screw that.

No, she was born prior to the onset of World War I. She did live to her mid-90s. Her posture was very bent-over late in her life - her son for example cut a broom handle way down so she could more easily use it to sweep.

I have a friend who is 71 who's just had both hips done, Dec. thru Feb. Doing well so far. But maybe too early to say.

Hard to say about your friend down the road, I had 5 good months after the 1
replacement and then my body just went haywire with all the change in parts and structure from the MAJOR surgery and replacements are Major...

Aspirin is poison.

Want to rid yourself of a headache, smoke some hashish and lay down.
