Default Monopoly

Watched a documentary on the origins of the game last night, which are a lot more complicated then "someone created it and it went on to become a success".

Here's a link to PBS and the doc. Runs a bit over 50 minutes.

You ever play it?

There are tons of different versions of the game now, including some based on TV shows. If I get a chance I'll try to dig up a list of the TV ones.

We started watching a Monopoly documentary (I'm not sure it was the same one you have here) and turned it off after a few minutes. It seemed to be geared towards tournament players. I still have my original game, although it's not in the best condition, to say the least. I think the price was $1.69.

I fact that I find interesting is that “The Monopoly Man” had a name. It was originally Uncle Pennybags though that name didn’t come until later as the character had no name at first.

He officially became Mr. Monopoly in 1999 as that’s what people were calling him, nobody said Uncle Pennybags. The character was also based on the likeness of J. P. Morgan.

That must be something else. Nothing like that in this one. Just the story of the history and creation of the game.

Left out The Golden Girls yesterday, which I'll photo. (I mentioned 16 yesterday but wasn't going go thru the hassle of posting 16 photos)

I’d guess that means basic regular original Monopoly and not one of the many variant editions.
