It's great to find out that a U.S release is finally coming. The German release has been out for years. This is definitely something I'll purchase immediately once it's released.

Any thoughts / feedback on this set?
I picked it up and have been going through it. Really enjoying the episodes again and they look great. I'm almost done with season two. A few things to note: The Jello/Dream Whip commercial and the Leslie Uggams Show clips which were on the standard DVD complete series set are NOT on the blu-ray. Each season is comprised of 4 discs I believe. I bought a blank 5 disc blu-ray holder for season 2 and kept the 5th disc from my standard DVD set so I don't lose the extras. A Paramount logo before and at the end of each episode has been added which is kind of annoying. Even if you do the 'play all' option, it shows up at the beginning and end of each episode. The thing I liked about seasons 1 and 2 on the standard set was they had the CBS in color bumper at the beginning of each episode. I think it's neat to have that on there - reminder of a bygone time where color shows were a big deal. It wasn't on the first half dozen or so episodes of season one so I thought they might have clipped it for the blu-ray but then it's started to show up which is cool. As a side note, I'm not sure when CBS stopped that practice. I know CBS and NBC had generic in color bumpers whereas ABC had unique bumpers which were specific to each show. I know the first two seasons of the Brady Bunch (up to 1971) have one so I'm not sure if during their original run, Hogan's Heroes would have had the in color fanfare throughout the series. |
