"Telethon!"
Hare Trimmed (Bugs - 1953 - Freleng) The Big Birdcast (1938 - Mintz) Curtain Razor (Porky - 1949 - Freleng) - a heavily censored cartoon in the past, including the "Mammy" Al Jolson duck, the chemical-swallowing fox, and unbelievably, the title on CBS. In fact, the "Mammy" duck is now edited 2:16 - 2:22 on MeTV. This is probably the first time it has been edited on MeTV. Merlin the Magic Mouse (1967 - Lovy) Claws in the Lease (Sylvester - 1963 - McKimson) - a pretty funny later McKimson short. Watch for the scene where the old lady reaches for her back brush |

Separate note--"Curtain Razor" is now edited on MeTV. We can assume any of these Al Jolson bits will now be cut out on MeTV.

"Party, Pizza Party!"
Advance and Be Mechanized (Tom and Jerry - 1967 - Washam) Robot Rabbit (Bugs, Elmer - 1953 - Freleng) Peck Up Your Troubles (Sylvester - 1945 - Freleng) - Sylvester chases a woodpecker in this unrestored, uncensored cartoon, derived from the European dubbed Turner print. Pigs is Pigs (1937 - Freleng) Lunch with a Punch (Popeye - 1952 - Sparber) Whoa, Be Gone! (Road Runner - 1958 - Jones) |

I'd have to think the 35mm masters are either gone or damaged. But it's also possible they just missed some cartoons, are in the process of finding better sources (such as the UCLA archive), or MeTV simply does not have them for some reason. |

This is why TIME Warner AOL Discovery and etc conglomerate, should hand this restoration off to a smaller company like Shout Factory. As a bonus, they could let Shout Factory restore all the 1950's Popeye cartoons. |

They should hand all the films over to Thunderbean Animation, which would do them all correctly. Including all the originals for Blue Ribbons that have been found, and Warners supposedly insisted on 35mm copies or nothing. And for Beanstalk Bunny (which supposedly does not have a useable 35mm master) restore it from a pristine 16mm copy--it's gotta be better than the syndication print that's used now. Thunderbean is tiny--give them all the help they need, and get it done right. And, yes, those dreadful 50s Popeyes, too. |

"Fantstic Friday #65"
(Banana-lover Al B. Quirky joins Bill and Toony for the 65th edition of "Fan-Tastic Friday.") Canary Row (Tweety, Sylvester - 1950 - Freleng) - a few songs from Tweety in this one, including over the animated titles and credits. Per Leff, this is the first appearance of Granny. Watch for the funnly bowling ball bit. Past ABC censorship: Granny chasing and hitting Sylvester, and Sylvester getting shocked on the trolley power line. Bottles (1936 - Harman [uncredited]) - Toon In With Me debut We Did It (Betty Boop - 1936 - Fleischer) Beep Prepared (Road Runner - 1961 - Jones [co-director Maurice Noble]) O-Solar-Meow (Tom and Jerry - 1967 - Levitow) |

"Live, Laugh, Bugs!" (A Pre-Valentine's Day Bugs Bunny Special)
Hare Splitter (Bugs - 1948 - Freleng) For Scent-imental Reasons (Pepé Le Pew - 1949 - Jones) - although this cartoon won a 1949 Oscar, it's rarely shown. The cartoon exists with original opening and closing rings, but was restored in its reissued form anyway. The Stupid Cupid (Daffy, Elmer - 1944 - Tashlin) Ding Dog Daddy (1942 - Freleng) Honey's Money (Yosemite Sam - 1962 - Freleng) Rabbit Romeo (Bugs - 1957 - McKimson) |

And “His Bitter Half” with the whole Native American “game” Wentworth played. That seemed far more intense than the gag in “Bugs’ Bonnets,” but what do I know?
I missed the Inspector cartoon before that. IIRC, that particular one seemed to have an edit, both on the Web and when LightTV ran it. Does anyone know about the edit? cd |

They'd make things easier on themselves if they'd just put up the "Product of its time" slide whenever in doubt, plus remember WHY they use the PG rating. Then they wouldn't have felt the need to censor Curtain Razor last Wed. And censoring the Al Jolson bit in that cartoon will mean censors in other cartoons like "What's Up, Doc?," and any others with the same Jolson bit. I can find nothing on The Inspector cartoon. There appear to be Fandom Wikis on all the cartoons from other studios, but the ones for Warners are way more detailed and complete. I'll view it later and see if I can figure it out. |

I wouldn’t know how to censor Jolson in “What’s Up, Doc?”, as Elmer is slowly walking past all the has-beens! That would be one ugly edit.
As to The Inspector, suddenly I am wondering if this morning’s toon wasn’t the one I was thinking about. I played almost every source of it online, and it looks smooth. Something looked sloppy when I saw an Inspector toon a while back. If anything would be removed, I’d think it to be the fists hitting two different “women.” The title and the scenes/scenery seemed familiar. And, why does the Inspector have no ears??? cd |
