I watched the first two episodes and I thought the show got off to a very good start both episodes were good. Melissa Rauch did a great job and of course John Larroquette still has the touch. The supporting cast is fine and even if some fine tuning needs to be done there's time.
All that is the good news, there are a couple of red flags, first the type of crimes covered in this show are for the most part largely being ignored in big cities around the country much to the chagrin of many of those cities residents. My point, people may not find the humor or may not be in the mood to deal with this type of setting. I don't know, it might become an issue. The ratings for the third episode showed a big dip, down 32% from the first episode and 26% from episode 2 so there's that. I hope viewers give it a chance. |

I would further make a running gag where co-workers suspect the new bailiff lied about his age and based upon his personality that he's really a fugitive WWII concentration camp guard,
Add a Ms Swan type character as a cafeteria employee devoted to installing order among the flock, Periodically feature a parody guest-criminal famous from another sitcom. One week you might have Ward Cleaver for outstanding parking tickets, , a few weeks later an Ernest T Bass on a vandalism charge, or Peggy Bundy for soliciting, stuff like that. Build some suspense in the audience as to who the next guest criminal might be. |

And I want to see Dan Fielding resume his lecherous ways. Maybe not as over the top as he was when he was younger and before his marriage, but people generally don't change that much -- even in old age. |

So I'm streaming the third episode as I type this and Holy Crap!! This is just not a funny show, what the hell is the audience laughing at there is nothing to laugh at here!!!
I'm really trying to give it a chance but except for Dan Fielding the other characters have no personality and everything seems cliche I think this court has to close session. Seasons 4 through 7 really was the peak of the show and I'm thinking being sandwiched between Cheers and Hill Street Blues didn't hurt either. |

Night Court rankings in the annual Nielsens (1984-1992): 41, 20, 11, 7, 7, 21, 28, 50, 46
The first year is its half season. It started on Wednesday nights, them moved to Thursday in the summer, which set up The Cosby Show's arrival by stringing together Family Ties, Cheers, and Night Court. Night Court mostly stayed on Thursday nights through its top ten years, then moved to Wednesday and spent a little time on Friday in its last years. |

I half watched the third episode it was so bad, I lost interest before the end.
The only thing I like is that to me, the lady playing the prosecutor is beautiful. I will revisit it to see if it gets better but it probably wont. |
