Thought The difference between Entrapment and Bait

Many of People get these two similar words confused. But I will tell the difference in examples.

Entrapment. A setup that causes a law abiding citizen to do something he or she normally wouldn't do. An example is you see what looks to be baby being left alone in a parked car in a parking lot on 80 degree weather. You are a parent yourself and your heart goes out to this poor, hot, abandoned baby. You try to open the door but the door is locked. You break the window and get the baby out and see that its just a doll. All of a sudden, Police come up to you and arrest you and book you and you spend a couple of days in jail for breaking into the car that was part of a sting operation. You now have this on your record. You have never been arrested before and honestly only broke into the car in the first place because you thought an abandoned baby was left in a hot car and you wanted to help a helpless baby and had no idea this was a set up doll as part of a sting operation. This is entrapment and you can successfully sue for this.

This one is bait. You are about to shop at a mall. You see a Louis Vuitton purse in a car in the parking lot full of REAL money. There is no one around, and all that REAL money will come in handy for a VERY big shopping spree. Plus, your wife will love to have that beautiful Louis Vuitton purse. You notice the car is UNLOCKED. You open the door, steal the purse and the money, and close the door. One minute later, multiple Police are in front of you demanding you put back the purse full of money and you do. You are arrested for breaking into a car and theft. You are stunned and it is revealed that the unlocked car with the Louis Vuitton purse full of REAL money was part of a sting operation. You are arrested and booked. You spend a couple of days in jail for this and now this is on your record. This is bait and you most likely will not be able to successfully sue.

Wrong is ALWAYS wrong. There was a story about Norfolk Southern railroad putting a container of Nikes on a street unattended, but had undercover security keep the truck under observation.

Just as expected, the local gangstas came along, cut off the padlock, and burgled the container.

After arrest the perps successfully argued they had been entrapped, claiming the sight of a locked shipping container sitting unattended in a high crime neighborhood presented an "irresistible target"

That's the world the bleeding hearts have wrought.

That's actually bait, not entrapment.

The official outcome was that the authorities agreed that it had been entrapment, and dismissed all charges, I don't agree with that, I'm just recapping the official verdict

I don't agree with that either. I can't believe the Authorities agreed that it was entrapment and dismissed all charges! Entrapment is breaking into a car because you think a baby's life is in danger, not doing outright theft!
