Default Do you think Granny and Pearl always had a rivalry?

Granny and Pearl seemed to get along during the episodes that took place in the Hills, they didn't start fighting until Pearl moved to Beverly Hills and Pearl started trying to take over the house...... and the whole Granny vs Pearl thing only lasted for a hand-full of episodes.... after that they start getting along well again and even start conspiring together in ways, sorta in a quasi Lucy/Ethel type way in some instances.

So what I'm wondering is, did Granny and Pearl always have a feud going, maybe on and off, or was it just for that one time? Why I wonder is, their feud only last a few episodes BUT it was SO INTENSE! When they fought, it was as if they had been life-long enemies, even though they showed no signs of having issues with each other before Pearl arrived in Beverly Hills

They seemed awfully chummy in the hills before they moved. Also, Granny goes and visits Pearl in the color episodes. Only time they really showed discord was when Pearl came to Beverly Hills and that was only for an episode or two.

Seems like they wanted Mrs. Drysdale to be Granny's nemesis.

For the longest time when I was younger, I didn't know who Pearl was or what her relationship to the Clampetts was... I just remembered when I was really young she was a woman that Granny used to fight with all the time

I have seen a few episodes this week where Granny was making snide remarks about Pearl. It was before Pearl came to BH and she was still back at in the hills. Granny thought Pearl was always looking for a man but she said it snarky.

Granny for sure did NOT like Pearl doing her housework or cooking.

In that, I tend to side with Granny since she basically became a stand-in mother to Elly Mae after Elly's mother passed away, I feel she should have had the run of the mansion like she had the run of the cabin. Pearl was just a guest at best, I dunno how long she was planning on staying originally.

Honestly what should have happened Pearl could have cooked for Jethro and Jetherine and Granny for Elly and Jed.... Their pantry was basically a kitchen in and of itself, Pearl could have taken that. But I think the main kitchen should have gone to Granny

I will admit the episodes where Granny and Pearl are fighting are some really funny episodes. Irene and Bea were a great duo. My favorite rivalry is Granny and Mrs. Drysdale though.
