The Beverly Hillbillies are taking over the 9pm slot on METV beginning January 9th replacing Gomer Pyle (I don't know where Pyle is going). Good news, at least in my opinion.

Good. Hopefully more primetime changes are coming. I assume MASH and TAGS will remain in their same timeslots for eternity.

Its about time.. Maybe give Hogans and Green Acres a rest. Replace with F Troop, Bilko, Car 54 or Get Smart?

I think BH and GA will complement each other. Hogan's Hero's definitely needs a rest.

I wish they would move Twilight Zone to an earlier timeslot.

I have mixed feelings about this. I want to start watching them, but nine seasons is a big commitment. Maybe I'll just watch season one, but if I know me if I watch one I'll want to watch them all. I don't think I've ever set out to watch all the episodes in order.
And I keep wanting to cut back on my TV watching... Reminds me of what David Letterman said once: "Everyone needs a purpose in life. Maybe yours is to watch television". Lol, I've always remembered that. I mean it's true in a way. Every bit of art needs a viewer, every leader needs a follower, etc. |

I am very pleasantly surprised that the series is going to be broadcast in primetime. At this stage of its existence I thought it was permanently relegated to off-hours (early, early mornings, or weekends or overnights).

So glad to see "The Beverly Hillbillies" back in primetime. I love watching it, especially the early seasons.

Someone in another thread said that The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show were the only two real well written, quality sitcoms in the '60s. I can't really disagree with that assertion. Things like The Beverly Hillbillies and The Munsters are a lot of fun, and creative in their own way, but they still fall into the kind of goofy category. |
