Default University of Idaho Murders

Has anybody came across a good video or article diving into the quadruple homicide of the 4 University of Idaho murders?

This seems to be quite the mystery and seems to have gone cold pretty quickly.

I've been following this story for the last few weeks, and I really hope they find the killer. How brazen he was to stab two people to death on the 2nd floor, then go through the trouble of entering the third floor and stabbing two MORE people to death...but leaving the two kids on the first floor untouched.

If you go on TikTok, you'll find endless people trying to figure this case out. This is dominating social media much like the Gaby Petito story from 2021. It could possibly help the case but there's also the chance it could hinder it with false leads.

A UM connection to the University of Idaho was the Will Hendrick case. I google mapped the location of his off-campus party that he disappeared from in 1999 to the location of the 4 murders currently in the news. The house of the four killings has been blurred out on street view. But it's just a mile and half down the road from where Hendrick disappeared 23 years ago.

That is a disturbing bit of censorship.

It actually isn’t a disturbing bit of censorship. It is very common for people to have their houses blurred/blocked out on Google Maps and is quite easy to get done.

What is more disturbing to me is the readily available access we have to view people’s homes. If I can zoom in and see that much from Google Maps, imagine what the government can zoom in and see in real time.

For those that want to look into blurring/blocking your home, below is a helpful link.

Yeah, not sure I want special people to get to block out their residences while the rest of us are in plain view. Especially when a crime has occured at the location and there is plenty of speculation about LE handling of the investigation.

You have the ability to block/blur out your residence. This isn’t an elitist thing to do. Plenty of people who have dealt with stalkers or other issues have had Google block/blur their views.

Can you please provide some details about the speculation on how LE has handled the investigation. Have they dropped the ball? Weren’t 25+ FBI investigators brought in 4 days after the murders happened?

I don't care so much about blocking mine as making all others seen. Nothing on Google Maps can't be seen from the public right of way, so there is no reason to hide it.
(also unsure how this works for the millions of Americans that do not own their residence)

Details? Google it. From very early on there was a lot of discussion about how the investigation was being conducted. Not hard to find.

Not sure that 25+ FBI investigators belong on what is by all appearances not a federal case, and in any case I don't view that as making the investigation good or bad.

I have noticed that some gated communities are blurred. I guess if they do not want you driving in, they do not want you seeing them from above either. Makes sense to me.

An arrest was made! I didn’t expect that so soon! They’ve not identified the suspect yet

A 28 year-old man, Bryan Kohberger. They sent a SWAT team into the Poconos to arrest him

Street View cameras take pictures from an elevated position which enable them to look over hedges/walls that are designed to prevent public view. Not everything that they show can be seen from public view. Sunbather in their backyard, etc.

Are you trying to say that from early on LE was correctly handling the investigation or they were not correctly handling the investigation?

This is taken directly from FBI.gov:

“ The FBI's top priorities are national security threats, but the Bureau also continues to play a key role in combating violent crime in big cities and local communities across the United States.

The FBI concentrates on crime problems that pose major threats to American society. Significant violent crime incidents such as mass killings, sniper murders, and serial killings can paralyze entire communities and stretch state and local law enforcement resources to their limits. ”

I’d say they serve a purpose to help out state and local law enforcement when the state or local law enforcement doesn’t have the resources or capabilities of handling an investigation.

Anyone on the street can hold up a camera on a stick and get the same effect. If it is visible from the public right of way to Google, than it is visible to others.

I'd say the mission creep and federalization of all LE is not a trend I care to see continue. Seperation of powers exists for a reason.
