Cadets was intended to be Soleil Moon Frye's next big starring vehicle after the conclusion of Punky Brewster. But it only made it as far as a pilot. ABC actually aired it as counter programming against NBC's Summer Olympics coverage from Seoul:
Besides, Solei Moon Frye, Cadets also featured a pre-Family Matters Jaleel White and a pre-Parker Lewis Can't Lose Corin Nemec. Also in the pilot was William Sadler, who has been in a lot of things, such as the Grim Reaper in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, the chief villain in Die Hard 2, the President of the United States in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve McGarrett's father on the Hawaii 5-0 reboot, the original Roswell as Sheriff Jim Valenti, the Jesse Stone series with Tom Selleck, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Luther Sloan. And finally, there was Richard Roundtree (AKA John Shaft) to round things out. The pilot I presume, was only aired once, and has since been considered "lost media":
