Default This show was a fail from the being

I did like Fish the character on Barney Miller but having his own show?

Then Fish becomes a foster father to a bunch of delinquents? Fish wasn’t parental material, at all. He was an old grumpy old man who barely tolerated his wife (and Bernice was a total loving sweetheart, who Fish didn’t treat that well).

Jack Soo if he was healthy would have made a better show. Have Yemana retire from the police force to work at an off track betting place, give him a girlfriend and few zany people who comes in to place bets.

Or have Harris becoming a successful writer in his own universe.

But Fish was a fail from the start.

I guess the show isn't that far from Diff'rent Strokes, except the lead is a middle class curmudgeon instead of a rich guy?

I like the Fish series and I think that him not being paternal and him being a grouch yet being a foster father is where a lot of the comedy came from. According to Todd Bridges, Fish was supposed to get a third season and only got canceled because Abe Vigoda wanted more money.

It would be nice if Antenna TV put Fish in with the Barney Miller rotation like they used to with the Three's Company spin-offs.

Decades currently has the rights to Fish and aired it in a binge recently with Bridget Loves Bernie, so I doubt that Antenna can get the rights currently.

I wonder do you have to be a Fan of BM to watch Fish? I guess they would need to be aired together in syndication in order for the spinoff to make sense
