One of the best lines in all of UM history came from a straight faced Danny Wheeler in this segment.
“Just by coincidence, just by coincidence. Sure it was, sure it was a coincidence, sure it was and I’m Michael Jordan too, I used to play for the Chicago Bills.” |

That is a shocking update on both counts: that they mended fences and that the murderer got released.

What I am shocked about is the killer being released on parole. Like WTF????? He gunned down a man in cold blood for no reason whatsoever |

I’m still shocked Beverly Noe is out of prison. I’ll never be able to wrap my brain around that. |

I could go into a long diatribe about how there has been an increase in public dissatisfaction with the American penal system. I believe this has resulted in a knee-jerk response by many to release as many people from incarceration as quickly as they can. This is done not only to satisfy the public, but to also reduce costs to the state.
While I believe the initial criticism and resistance was in response to the "War on Drugs," which I find to be a valid criticism, it seems that folks who commit violent and sexual crimes are also being lumped into this rush of getting folks out of incarceration as quickly as possible. It's unfortunate and I could say more, but I won't. I'm guessing Beverly Noe was paroled because, frankly, she's old and probably doesn't pose a threat to society anymore. She's probably not a threat at this point, but I find it incredibly offensive to the family of the victims in that matter. On the other end of it, just as a counterpoint, I have had conversations with victims where they are ADAMANTLY OPPOSED to long-term incarceration because they feel that the offender has no right to have anything provided to them by the taxpayers. Beverly, in her old age, would certainly require more medical care than an average inmate. By being paroled, she's on her own to figure it out if/when something happens. I still don't agree with the parole decision, but that's kind of a silver lining? |

That picture of Bob and Danny. Daaaaang.
Maybe it's the hat, but Danny looks exactly the same. I didn't realize they had become friends over the years. That makes me happy. I'm glad they found *some* peace out of such an awful circumstance. |
