With the current number of violent crimes being committed throughout the New York City subway system, the heroic Vincent would have his hands (or paws) full trying to stem these terrible physical assaults on everyday New Yorkers.
Virtually, every day, there are news accounts of innocent people being punched senseless by some perpetrator, being slashed with a knife or box cutter, or being pushed to death in front of an incoming subway train. The crime on NYC subways today hasn’t been this bad since the 1970s, when “Fun City” was accurately depicted in films like “Death Wish,” “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three,” and “The French Connection.” It took the almost-Herculean efforts of former US Attorney and NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani to greatly reduce these violent assaults in subway stations and on the streets of New York. Unfortunately, the last two mayors of NYC have been either unwilling or incapable of combatting the rising crime in the Big Apple. So, it will have to be left to such courageous and resolute individuals as Vincent to try and end the violent crimes being currently perpetrated in America’s greatest city. No doubt, Father, Pascal, Mouse and all of the other inhabitants of “The World Below” would be absolutely appalled at the level of violence occurring in the world above. They must consider their world as a veritable oasis from the cruelty taking place every day, just above them. Father would probably direct his followers to reinforce the barriers, keeping the thugs, mentally-challenged individuals and homeless people from invading their calm and peaceful world. Vincent must be constantly busy, “subway surfing” on the tops of the E, F, and D subway trains, rushing from crime scene to crime scene, and attempting to thwart the evil-doers. Can you imagine waiting for a subway train at the Times Square station and then seeing the valiant Vincent, clinging onto the roof of the train, to avenge some innocent New Yorker? Talk about an incredible and awe-inspiring sight!!! I wish Vincent good luck in his efforts to protect the nearly nine million residents of the city that never sleeps. Vincent’s beloved Catherine Chandler would have been so proud of him. |
