Default Does anyone know why Mama’s Family is on LOGO now?

Because yesterday, LOGO was showing the last season of Mama’s Family and now, today, they’re on Season 4 already. However, when I looked at the schedule for today online, episodes of The New Adventures of Christine were supposed to air.

I think he meant, at that time.

I think they changed their schedule at the last minute. Their online schedule is hosed up, too.

I want to talk about Ken Berry. The man was probably the best dancer of modern times. Him, Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. I dont know who was the best. I am only young enough to know Ken Berry and even then mostly as a sitcom actor and not his AMAZING dance abilities.

I saw a YouTube video when he was on Carol Burnett with Ken Berry in a dance number and Berry glided a 20 foot plus floor using one foot to pivot his whole body across the stage. He pivoted his left foot and just glided across the stage. With me going "How in the hell did he do that??"

I examined what he did and tried to do it myself on a wood floor in my socks (he did with shoes).Berry just pivoted one foot back and forth and across the floor he went.

I was interested and tried to do it in socks across a smooth wood floor. I went nowhere. Left foot left and right, move across. Nope. Tried for about a half hour and gave up. If I could have talked to Ken Berry in life would have asked him "How in the hell did you do that?"

Berry was the GOAT. As in Greatest Of All Time on the floor. He should have been in the Lemmon/Matthau film "Out to Sea". I have seen Berry in other stuff earlier in his career and he was acrobatic in his delivery. Amazing.

I thiink he is underrated as an actor. His talent was on the floor. Dude was amazing, almost a Houdini.

I agree. He was one of the last entertainers who did it all, dance, sing, act, etc. Unfortunately he had said that once Mama’s Family ended so did much of the opportunities he could have had. Perhaps having his character dumbed down when the show went to syndication didn't help him.

I really liked him in F Troop. He did physical comedy as well as John Ritter.

He was very accomplished it all he did.

All of the Viacom networks must have last minute schedule changes because Martin was scheduled on BET for tonight and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne is showing instead.

Just adding on to your thought, he was born a decade too late. The 1950's was the last great era for the old Hollywood musicals, he certainly could have been a star during that period. Garry Moore had a variety series on CBS that ran 6 seasons (58-64), Berry had more than enough talent to excel during this period. I actually think F Troop hurt his career. He would have fit perfectly into the role of deputy after Knotts left the Griffith show, I heard an interview with Berry a few years ago, he indicated that the writers on F Troop would just note in the script Ken does some funny stuff and he would improvise a bit. When he was hired as the lead for Mayberry RFD he was terribly underutilized. He could have done so much more with that part but he was essentially conscripted to playing the rather flat straight man that Griffith had turned the lead role into during the final three seasons of TAGS.
