Mark Miller has passed just two months short of his 98th birthday. Last year Kim Tyler became the first member of the cast to die.

Actor Mark Miller, best known for his role in Please Don’t Eat the Daisies has died aged 97 from natural causes. The Days of Our Lives star died at his home in Santa Monica, California September 9, his family confirmed. After Miller trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, his first acting gig saw him star opposite the late Grace Kelly in Noël Coward’s Private Lives. During his career, Miller produced and starred in a number of TV shows from the sixties through to the nineties. After working on the 1982 family film Savannah Smiles, he played Texas college professor Him Nash in the 1960s series Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, which aired for two seasons and 58 episodes. Elsewhere, Miller ventured into stage productions and starred in The Philadelphia Story opposite Sarah Churchill, daughter of Winston Churchill, and Dark at the Top of the Stairs. Miller also featured in 13 episodes in the US soap opera Days of Our Lives in 1975, another 13 episodes as Howard Jones on NBC’s Bright Promise in 1970. He also starred in two episodes of General Hospital in 1965. In the 80s, Miller wrote several episodes for popular shows including Diff’rent Strokes and The Jeffersons. In 1995, Miller wrote the Keanu Reeves-led film A Walk in the Clouds, which was directed by Alfonso Arau. Miller wed actress Barbara Stanger, and they worked together on several screenplays, including Christmas Mountain: The Story of a Cowboy Angel (1981). Miller and Stanger divorced in 1998, and Miller relocated to California in 2013 to be near his children – Savannah, Penelope Ann and Marisa Miller from his first marriage and the late Gabe Miller from his second. Miller is survived by granddaughters, Amelia, Eloisa, Gretta, Sophie, Maria and Celeste. |
