When Endora lost her powers, she looked more disheveled than usual. So it made me wonder, do you think the witches knew how to do simple activities of daily living, since they use witchcraft for pretty much everything. Did they know how to dress themselves, take a bath, brush their teeth, etc.... I'm guessing they always use witchcraft to do all that stuff

Endora was pretty helpless without her powers. She could not even lift the coffee pot. They must have done simple, normal everyday things. However, I think they used their powers most of the time. Samantha did seem to know how to do a lot of things in the early episodes.

I believe that in order to accomplish any specific task via witchcraft, the witch would have to first understand the goal as well as the method to get there.
EG I don't see witchcraft as an "autopilot". In order to cast a spell to tie ones shoes, for example, you would have to understand how it is accomplished. Now, as far as being willing to "lower themselves" to the rank of commoner, and risk obtaining callouses like all the other "knuckle draggers"....that is a separate matter. Case in point, Aunt Agatha was a screwvball, and her spells were always going awry...so I doubt there was a spirit in the sky handling the magic on behalf of the operator (correction: aunt Clara) |

If an item was across the room on a table, and the witch or warlock wanted it where they were seated, that's magic that would go back to their wishcraft days.
But for something like tying a shoe, the spell for that would probably be taught by their mother or father. Probably another spell for using a back brush in the shower, etc. |

Witch do you suspect would have the steeper learning curve? For a young warlock to figure out how to do this
![]() Or for a young witch to figure out how to walk on an air vent in spikes without getting marooned? |

One additional consideration regarding the "power" of witchcraft. I doubt that Endorra manually applied her make up, so if she cast a spell "make me beautiful" well .....the power was obviously limited.
Funny she could turn Darrin into a toad, but could do nothing to escape looking like Seahag, herself? |

Samantha once said "Vanity, thy name is mortal." Witches didn't seem to be obsessed with beauty standards and may not have even appeared human in their natural state (as somewhat hinted at by Endora early on). But Agnes Moorhead I thought looked grand and regal at her age.

Regarding vanity being a "mortal" thing....Uncle Arthur and Dr Bombay both, are NOTHING, if they are not vain.

Most of the witches aside from Samantha and Aunt Clara were very vein.... For a simple breakfast they would request something that would cost around 70$ in a fancy restaurant lol

Like Esmeralda, only her fades were temporary. It cracked me up when you'd just see a pair of glasses floating there.
