White Castle
One restaurant that I have never been especially fond of is White Castle. I have eaten there twice and found the food to be way too greasy and have very little taste. In any event, I pass a White Castle on my way to the building where I volunteer from time to time. I recently saw a sign that said that they were established in 1921. It will take another paragraph for me to explain what this has to do with "Gimme a Break!".
On various occasions, I have written about my fondness for actress Hazel Shermet (who made three guest appearances on this series). My most recent post about her on this page is called "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home". In any event, I have heard various reports on when she was born. Some accounts say 1920 and some say 1921. My gut feeling is that she was born in 1921. If this is true, she was born the same year that the White Castle company was founded! |
