Default Linda Watkins

I saw an episode of the Munsters on Cozi TV Munster marathon, & heard that familiar voice & said to myself, I know that voice, it’s Edna Robinson (Vicious Vicki’s mother) from “The Parent Trap” (1961) & then I realized OMG, that’s Cousin Gracie from Hazel! LOL

Smile Oop There She Is

I've never seen Parent Trap but I have seen "Cousin Gracie" pop up in many different TV shows of the '60's. I often will see her in different episodes of Perry Mason and I believe also 77 Sunset Strip. Other places but she's one of those familiar faces that pop up in all sorts of different TV shows that you never know her name but you recognize the voice and face.

You would LOVE the 1961 picture “The Parent Trap” (Hayley Mills) made when Walt was still alive & visited the set. Linda Watkins plays the scheming Mother of Vicki Robinson who is out to get her gold digging claws on Brian Keith, & ship Hayley off to boarding school! I also have seen Linda on “The Walton’s” she plays an Irish old spinster with a model T Ford. But my all time favorite is her Cousin Gracie on Hazel, she is on full display singing “Three Blind Mice”, shooting at plates with a slingshot! LOL

The writers kind of muffed up the character of Gracie on Hazel. The episode where she is first introduced, she is George's cousin, who Hazel only met once at their wedding. he eventually get her into becoming a maid. Then we see her in the 2-parter where Gracie is working for Mr Bixby (a gangster) in Malibu. She is shown more as Hazel's friend than George's cousin. The Baxter family is only concerned of Hazel's safety and when George finally rescues them, she hugs Hazel and barley acknowledges Gracie.

I saw Linda on a ? I think it was on Gunsmoke, where she played a woman who Buddy Epsen was drawn too. Buddy's wife Hope Summers was furious and burned down Buddys and Hope's house hoping Buddy would come back to Hope. I felt sorry for Buddy for Linda was much friendlier person. I read somewhere Linda died sometime in the 1970's. A real peppy actress.

Linda W. also was in the first episode of McMillan & Wife. Her part was almost non-existant as she was basically in the background, she played a rich old lady. I just saw it recently again.

Linda Watkins died on Halloween 1976 at age 68. It's funny seeing her play both Edna Robinson in "The Parent Trap", where she sounded like a witch trying to warm up to Sharon/Susan ("Come here & talk to your Auntie Edna!") and Cousin Gracie, wimpy through a lot of "Scheherezade". She was a very versatile actress.

Yes, I've seen her on other shows, but she really nailed that Gracie role.

It cracked me up when someone called her Grace and she wanted to be called Gracie because that's what her father called her.

I like how Linda looks in this 1958 image from The Adventures of Jim Bowie. She was about age 49 for the filming:
