Default Another Pot

When the "Brady Bunch" came out, America was first entering the age in which the common school of thought was that anyone who hates smokers cannot be all bad. This being the case, we have the episode from the second season called "Where There's Smokes". Throughout the seventies and eighties, there were oodles of shows that had episodes about how bad it was to smoke. On top of this, there were all sorts of Public Service Announcements that preached this gospel. However, it seemed to me that, by the end of the eighties, this issue started to taper off. It took a backseat to other issues that the media preached the gospel about. However, at this point, it seems to be making a comeback. When I watch TV in the early evening, I see quite a few commercials that tell people not to smoke. Well, in addition to the "Brady Bunch", two other shows that I have watched that have had episodes about this topic are "Gimme a Break!" and "Friends". In the recent past, I have started threads on both of these pages regarding this topic. So far, no one has responded to either of them. I wonder if it will be different on this page.

There are more PSAs now on smoking than say a few years ago. Describing varying medical problems and relating them back to smoking.

I'm a former smoker and certainly am not pro-smoking, but I really doubt they could prove every problem these people have is caused by a smoking habit.

I am an ex-smoker.

I do not watch regular tv so I do not know about commercials. Usually, we can follow the money when society is told to do or not do something. Not smoking seems to not make anybody rich.

God, I miss smoking. It's too expensive and we spend way too much time being a slave to smoking but it was a great way to pass the time.

In the first place, I am very proud of both people who posted replies for having stopped smoking. I am sure that you bodies will thank you! After I posted this thread, I went over to the "Different Strokes" page and started one there about the same topic. The last time I checked, it did not have any replies.

And more recently, "Mom" can now be added to the list as well.
