Mark's Son

At this point, I have watched more than half of the episodes of the one and only season of the reboot. It is my understanding that, because the actress who played Fran did not want to reappear on the show, they built into the story that she and Mark separated and that Mark was now happily remarried. By the way, because I liked the character of Fran, I felt bad about her not being in the new series. In any event, in the original version of the show, Fran and Mark had a son named Ryan. At one point during the run of the series, Fran and Mark separated and then got back together. When they were reunited, they talked about the idea of having a second child. We never learned what happened with this situation. Well, in the episodes of the new series that I have seen so far, I have also never heard it explained what ever happened to Ryan. At this point, I believe he would be somewhere in his thirties. Does anyone know what the implication was of what had happened to him?
