Default Last Season Was Terrible

I just finished watching the entire series on Tubi. Wow, Season 5 was awful. My least favorite season. It was seriously painful to get through. Too many changes and jump sharking moments. Marriage, babies, moving out, new characters, puberty. I see why the show was cancelled at the end of this season.

Too many new characters

Carol - Total bore. No personality, uninteresting, unfunny. Total mary-sue. Never warmed up to her character. The scenes with her and Nick are a complete snoozefest.

Blossom, Six, and Joey are pretty much all grown up so we get Cousin Oliver Syndrome

Kennedy - This little girl annoyed the hell outta me. This kid was so obnoxiously sweet, precious and cutesy, I wanted to vomit. And a terrible actress too. Her line readings feel completely unnatural and the way she moves face when she says her lines bugs me. Trying too hard to be cute. Also, given dialogue no kid that age would say.

Franklin - Um, where did this neighborhood kid come from? He says he lives next door, but we never seen or heard of this kid in the previous four seasons. What was the point of this character? Cute factor? Diversity hire? Crew member's son?

Shelly - Didn't care for this character. Just kinda there...Seems like this character was here to add some color to the show.

A pet bulldog named Winston?

I disliked all these characters. None of these people added nothing to the show. I skipped any scenes with Kennedy, Franklin and that dog. Totally unwatchable. Any long running show that adds cute little kids is heading for a cancellation tick bomb.

Grandpa Buzz gets Chuck Cunninghamed, and disappears with no explaination.

Vinnie is written out the show.

The theme song/intro was dropped completely.

Anthony and Joey move out the house and it's just not same. Carol and Kennedy move in. Poor replacements to fill the void.

The Blossom character has become insufferable and unlikable. Why would anybody want to be friends with this girl let alone date her? The character started out so quirky and spunky, but by end became so moody and snarky. What happened to her playing the trumpet and her love for dancing? It got ridiculous all these hot guys and hunks that she was getting. Oh please... Also, by this point Mayim Bialik seems checked out and over the show.

Storylines got boring and stupid

That Blossom Gump episode had to be worst half hour of television I ever witnessed. Blossom dreams she's Blossom Gump and gives advice to Madonna and teaches Michael Jackson to moonwalk? Um what?

The kids discourage Nick from selling the house. This plot was already done back in Season 2.

More dream sequences. Joey dreams he's on Jeopardy?

Too many marriages and pregnancies in a short span of time. First Anthony gets married in the previous season, then the Nick gets married, and the second last episode Joey gets engaged to a girl we barely know. Shelly gets pregnant and has a baby and also in the second to last episode Carol announces she's preganant? Why?

Worst of all the show got so damn boring and unfunny. I don't think I laughed once during this season. When the show started, it was fresh and fun. It had edge and raunchiness to the humour and storylines. By the end it became so generic and dull. The jokes became forced. The show turned into a watered down bland family sitcom. Unfortunately, Blossom was a victim of network meddling. NBC told the producers to tone down the show and make it more family friendly. Big MISTAKE! No more stuff like Joey fantasizing about being surrounded in his bedroom by Playboy models in bikinis, hello cutesy scenes of a 5 year old girl and a dog in a pink tutu playing tea party or pouting at the audience. The ratings tanked hard in Season 5. The show dropped from #31 to #55. A lot of viewers tuned out and stopped watching.

Seasons 1 and 2 were the best when it just the original cast, the show was strictly a comedy and a laughing riot. Season 3 was good. Season 4 started going downhill. Season 5 was horrible. Shame this show started off strongly.

So that's why this show was cancelled after its fifth season. All the former original castmembers of this show suffered divorces each officially.
